Is there any difference in consuming straight BCAAs versus getting them via protein sources?
Is there a standard amount of BCAAs present in all protein sources, or does it vary by type (whey, casein, meat, fish, chicken, etc.)?

I’d say the difference from taking them separately compared to in other protein, is that it makes it a lot easier to get more of them, and preferably in the right ratios.
As to the “standard” amounts, I think they’re present in all complete protein sources, however the ratios between them, and their total percentage of the protein consumed, may not be optimal.
This is my understanding at least.
Yeah, I’ve heard a lot of vague statements regarding BCAAs, but I’ve never got any definitive answers…hopefully somebody comes along knowing what’s what.
Is the mega men sport w/ BCAA’s worth the price for GNC???
Well, the article Biotest wrote about their BCAAs, is of course not unbiased, but I think it explains pretty well the basics of why BCAAs kick so much ass.
If the research behind it was bad, I first of all doubt Biotest would have a product based on them, I also doubt so many others would, and I also doubt it would have been around for this long.
I’ve never used them, but I have read other people’s reactions, and they seem just too great not to try them. So I ordered a bottle with my last order here.
Now if only I would know why FedEx claims my order is “package available for clearance”, since friday morning, and estimated delivery time was 3 hours ago, I’d be ecstatic =)
Check out this link from an old Muscle and Fitness. It is one of the best articles I’ve found explaining amino acids and why they are a valuable tool for a bodybuilder or athlete.

Almost definitely not. I don’t know if the fact that Biotest BCAAs have the ratio found in muscle actually makes them superior. But they’re high quality and just as good as any. Cheaper than many.
