TED Talks : Enough With The Fear Of Being Fat

not easily, but I really need the money.

I guess I’d start by popping like a gram of cialis

Just tell her it’s a vanilla cone. Then once mr unfortunate gets up, just stick it right in, constantly telling yourself “More cushion for the pushing” while holding back tears of oh my gawd, I just fucked someone who could probably kill me by sitting on me.

Let’s hope she’s not into that…

Im with @yogi.

5k plus some drug assistance and I would consider.

Ya roll her in flour and go for the wet spot, duh. I’ve known (about) that since I was about 13.

Well, I’d fill a bucket full of gummi bears and wait till she bends down to stuff her face into it…

Then POW!

I wouldn’t hit it with a ten foot pole. Literally, it wouldn’t reach through the lard.

I’m of the mind that there’s nothing inherently wrong with being fat. People that are fat should not be ridiculed or derided or insulted and most every fat joke has been done to death.

BUT…you cannot demand people find you attractive. NOT being attractive is also not a crime, but you cannot demand that “society” find you beautiful.

I get what she is trying to say. I don’t necessarily agree with everything she says - but I understand it.

I am currently classed as obese on the BMI scale - but as I am very well aware that the bmi scale is completely irrelevant and should not be used - I don’t give a F#*%. What I do care about is my fitness level, my bodyfat ratio (which is coming down due to hard work) and other actual health stats. For me though, losing size, especially fat ratio has definitely not been easy and nigh impossible for many years. The simple reason - undiagnosed medical conditions.

As she said there is a massive industry based on body image - The diet and fitness industry is one of them. However, anyone who has been through all of that would know that the crap they sell does not work, and in most cases makes the problem worse. That is one of the reasons I love the T Nation site - it does not have any of that crap in it. However, the people who really need it are probably not getting on this site. It is by fluke that I discovered it.

There is a massive amount of bad information out there - especially if you are female. You just need to look at some of the T Nation articles that are dispelling these myths - many of which are tagged for women. Fat acceptance has come about because so many have tried so many different ways of losing weight that just don’t work so they have given up.

Yes, there are plenty of fat people who are fat because they eat tons of junk food. However, there are those who are fat who don’t - but they get lumped in with the former anyway.

y’know, that’s something that’s never occurred to me before[/quote]

“Men climb the mountain to reach the top; women complain that there IS a mountain top and declare wherever they are to be the new mountain top.”

So sayeth le interweb.

That’s why you go for 2 8s instead.

I’d do it for 2 bucks but I’d need a popsicle stick as a splint.

The BMI is relevant considering nearly all non-lifters who have abnormal BMI’s are indeed underweight or overweight and I believe many lifter males are fatter than they imagine themselves to be.

Your post is solid though and you bring up great points.

this is such a good point and I have no idea why people struggle with it.

Everyone complains that BMI doesn’t take into account muscle mass, but when I look out my window I don’t see herds of jacked people, I see fat guys. Fat guys everywhere.

So while BMI may not apply to you personally, for the average sedentary person it absolutely does.

Yes, it does. Working in healthcare and having been exposed to thousands of BMI numbers, I can wholeheartedly say that with the exception of one patient/resident, EVERY respective person with an abnormal BMI was underweight, overweight, or obese.

She is borderline mentality ill. “There are fat athletes who run marathons, teach yoga or do kickboxing all done with a middle finger firmly held up, to the status quo.”

NO there are not. Even if your cardiovascular system and leg muscles were so amazing that you can be fat as hell and do a marathon. Your knees will blow out

“People who value health as something much more holistic than a number on a outdated BMI chart.”

If she was talking about 10 or 20 lbs of muscle, she has a point. But not 20 lbs of fat and she looks to be 100 lbs of fat. That will kill you and before you die your knees and hips will fail.

This is the direction we need to be going not her way. Back to what we know is healthy, back to what we once were. This is the system my high school had when I was there. This is what we looked like. We had 3500 students and I do not think 20 of them were fat

With a ten (the finest looking woman on earth) we are far to distracted to care.
