I liked the idea I was told when my family first came here, which was to become American. No matter where you came from in the world, if you come to America, you are meant to learn the language and it’s customs. To embrace that which is the American Dream and way of life. To believe in Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. When I see, read, or hear stories of those who come here only to bash, abuse, and rape the system, it really pisses me off. If I had to pick between which citizenship to keep, it will be my American citizenship.

It is the American Way of Life that provided the opportunities for me, and I show my allegiance to the country that offers that to me. This is the best place on Earth.

The amount of immigrants the US needs for the foreseeable future is 0. There is no reason why our citizens should be competing with immigrants for jobs right now. In 10 years, if we have some real GDP growth, we can re-open the discussion.

But you want these immigrants you’d trade for citizens to buy into the ideas of Dead White Males who started this country. In order to do that, we need to stop vilifying these Dead White Males at every opportunity. Again, since this is unlikely to happen for the foreseeable future, the amount of immigrants we need right now is 0, or do you like Dearbornistan and MS-13?

I agree. I’ve actually been calling for (not that anybody’s been listening) for a moratorium on immigration of at least 5 years myself for a long while now. We need to find out who is here, why and who should get the boot. However, given the choice, yes, I’ll take some immigrants, regardless of origin, who buy into the vision of those dead white guys over the Obama’s, Pelosi’s, Reid’s and Kennedy’s of the world any time.
