Tea Party - Hilarity After the Jump...

The thing that kills me is that some of these people are yelling things like “We want jobs! Not a healthcare bill!” yet, if we passed a comprehensive jobs bill, these same people would be up in arms about the increase in the deficit and the government “control” of the economy. Then they wonder why they are ignored?

Good thing they protested the spending of the Bush administration and the Patriot Act.

Oh.

What these videos should show us (and there has been more than one), is that somehow those that oppose the President and his policies are well-informed and those that do not are ill-informed sheeple.

That simply is not true.

Americans AS A WHOLE tend to not study an issue much in depth (I’ve done it myself) and depend heavily on 1) pundits and 2) WIKI-pedia. (if that much).

Oftentimes I think Americans gain their information from Bob in the Barbershop or from some 30 second news clip.

Oh, you don’t understand! It takes time for the rage to accumulate, and so it only bubbles up LATER, during the next Democratic administration.

Yep, how dare they want jobs. I mean, paying for the roof over your head, food on the table, gas to get you to and from a job, feeding your family, those are all overrated. Hey let’s look on the bright side, I will get awesome health care, but won’t have a home over my head. I will have the best health on Skid Row.

Ryan, you can have the cardboard box right next to mine. That way, when I can’t sleep because I am freezing my ass off, you can talk me to sleep about how awesome this new health care system is.

Oh, and you, federalist, your job will be to keep the fire in the trashcan going, so that way we all don’t catch hypothermia. But that’s ok too, because our newly awesome health care system will take of that too, after all, they can’t turn me down. I guess that “pool” we will be in, will be that of the homeless, hopeless, and unemployed.

I love all of the facts and figures you include with your horror story.

You mean, the fact that without a job, you cannot support yourself? Some of us don’t want to take a handout.

Do you mean if this bill passes , we will all lose our jobs?

Who said that just because someone wants “jobs” that they automatically must mean an unfunded mandate or similar of deficit spending to create “jobs”?

With unemployment hovering at 10% and the near-birth of the “mother of all unfunded mandates”, which will require massive tax increases, there is little reason to think the economic climate will be roaring to produce jobs. Businesses - especially small ones - are withholding expansion in the face of all this uncertainty.

Might just be a good idea to create some sense of stability in the economy in order to improve the “jobs” outlook. But raw ideology has trumped all maturity in Congress.

At any rate, with a house with a damaged roof in need of fixing, the current President and Congress decide to build a swimming pool. It is a near-unthinkable tone-deafness as to financial priorities, and ordinary people - real ones, not the imagined construct of spoiled socialists - have noticed.

What these videos show us is that any bozo - right or left - with a camera can get a camera and play “gotcha!” journalism by highlighting inevitably dumb statements from people.

And while every political leader/movement has its share of “sheeple” (Bush was no exception) let’s face facts that the current one has set a new record for glassy-eyed followers detached from reality. In fact, the cult of personality has been downright creepy.

Doesn’t mean they’re dumb - it means they have lives running businesses, raising children, and working on their short game.

No doubt in my mind Bob in the Barbershop would give a more honest answer on how much ObamaCare costs than would the current enlightened folks named Pelosi, Obama, and Reid. I’ll take Bob over these cynical, shameful shysters any day of the week.

…Doesn’t mean they’re dumb - it means they have lives running businesses, raising children, and working on their short game…"

Agree! (I’m in that boat!)

(Bolt…I have a new thread for you to “jump in on” on the Tea Party. I quote a statement you made…)

Oh gee, didn’t obama just extend the patriot act? Oh yes, he indeed did.

Fine this is how all liberals think, act and behave… It’s all, not a lunatic fringe… This is all liberals because this one video proves it.

That’s because democrats are fundamental morons who think that legislation must cast trillions of dollars and raise taxes to pass any legislation. All we need is the government to take their foot off the necks off of business so they can operate. That’s costs very little money to do.

No, something along the lines of the small business taxes which will put a strain on them creating or expanding with jobs. You know what happens when tax the shit out of small business? They either leave or go under, but in this case, there is no place for them to leave to.

Funny how (some) Republicans decided to speak out against that.

Had this (some) previously supported it prior to denouncing Obama’s extension?

Did you even read my post? That’s my point. The gvoernment COULD give you a job, but then you’d complain that they borrowed money to do it, and that they are interfering with the economy. It seems like you just want to criticize Obama.

Because to do anything meaningful for the economy, it would require deficit financing. Another stimulus, basically.

You mean by continuing the policies that got us here in the first place? You mean taking the economy off of life support?

This is based on your assessment that the healthcare situation was just peachy? It didn’t need fixing? It wouldn’t affect the economy? This effort (whether or not you think this is a good bill or not) is central to the economic situation.
