TCs army article

so much hate…

Anyone who proclaims they like America but are critical of it’s foreign policy are “bed-wetting liberals” and should kill themselves…

Childish responses based solely on emotion may feel good but where does it lead?

couple of months ago KO started a thread about all the gay bashing and intolerant attitudes here - no wonder he nor many others post much anymore.

so much hate…

Israelis like Glute-spanker kick ass.

War isn’t anything but ugly. In the years between 91 and last year Saddam’s regime killed how many innocent people? Between 100 and 300 THOUSAND. If left alone he would have had even more people killed and tortured. We killed 10,000. A little perspective is a good thing.

How many innocent people were killed in Europe in WWII? A lot, millions. 67% of all deaths in that war were civilians. Should the US have stayed out of that war because civilians would die? I don’t know. Maybe.

When I was in a beer hall in Regensburg, Germany last March an older guy pulled me aside when he found out I was an American. You know what he said to me? “I want you to know that we Germans appreciate what the US did for us AFTER the war here”. Odd that we killed so many of his fellow citizens and that’s what he wanted me to know.

I don’t know how heroic it is to shoot and old man that’s carrying a rifle. To point and shoot a rifle doesn’t take youth or physical fitness. That old man could kill you just as dead as anyone else with that rifle, and that’s probably his intent in that situation.

An older guy I used to work with was a Ranger in Vietnam. One day his squad was doing some recon and were spread out along a ridge line. He didn’t hear him coming because he was barefoot. What he did hear was a sharp intake of breath behind him. He quickly turned, saw the AK47 aimed at him and fired his rifle. It was a 15 year old kid. Walt doesn’t feel like a hero, even though he killed an enemy combatant to save his own life. That kid’s face still haunts him. The sound of helicopters has the same effect. Walt is a pretty typical combat vet. They aren’t bloodthirsty murderers. They’re guys like us that had a job, a usually ugly job, to do. Most guys I know that other people call heroes don’t feel like one. Most have survivor guilt.

We hear a lot about what Europe thinks about Iraq and our actions there. I wonder what the people of Iraq think? Obviously some of those that supported Saddam and some others are pretty pissed and are still trying and succeeding at killing our guys. What I don’t see is a huge popular uprising, or massive protests in the streets over there.

Part of being a decadant American is cable TV. We get the foriegn news, we aren’t in the dark. Not many of us watch Al Jazeera

oops, my bad, clicked the wrong button.

Al jazeera on TV but we do watch the BBC or CBC so we aren’t totally in the dark about how the “world” sees things.

You know what I felt about the average Taliban fighter in Afghanistan? Pity. I felt that because they’re illiterate, uneducated, and indoctrinated and sent to die in a futile effort by fanatics. They carried weapons against us though, so they had a choice of dying or surrender.

The old man you talked about had that choice too. So do the assholes that are killing our guys in the streets in Iraq today. They could stop fighting and be part of the new Iraq or they can fertilize an orange grove with their decaying flesh. We’re not imperialists. Look at Japan and Germany. Look at the Phillipines. We took that land in a fair fight but we didn’t keep it. We turned it back over to the peaceful people left at the end of the fight and eventually left. Iraq will be the same.

Here’s what an Egyptian thinks of what we did in Iraq.

I’d start a heavy cycle of Deca only before I would explain myself to this idiot Adal.

kuri,

I hate no one. However, I do hate some ideas. For example I “hate it” when people forget about 9/11. Bush is correct when he states: “Better to fight the war on terrorism over there, than over here.”

No one likes war, but sometimes it’s a necessary evil!

Adal…are you from Germany? If not do you speak German?

If you don’t…your welcome. The mean old green machine saved your ancestor’s ass twice in the last century.

That band of windless killers drove your would be benevolent occupiers back over the rhine twice.

Get a grip.

Adal-You say that we’ve killed tens of thousands of civilians in Iraq? You should look up the numbers. The estimates are between 4 and 9 thousand.

Lars- This mindless killer thing really pisses me off. How do you know what military men are trained to do? Have you been there? 90% of military men are support troops that will never fire a weapon once they leave boot camp except in annual training. These men are doctors, construction workers, mechanics, paper pushers, supply workers, air traffic controllers, ect. Are you telling me that THEY are mindless killers too? I was not special forces, I was a regular grunt, and I’ll be the first to admit that there was a minority of guys that WANTED to kill someone. But they were that way BEFORE they joined. And you were always weary of them. During your training in Infantry school and boot camp you get classes on what a “lawful order” is. You are instruced on what orders you follow and what orders you do NOT follow.

My father works in a computer company along an Iraqi that escaped the country. He’s missing his hand from when he was tortured. His family was killed by Saddam. I don’t think I have to tell you his feelings on the topic.

@SteelEyes (aka blind)

The phrase “fertilize an orange grove with their decaying flesh” explains your view perfectly - thanks.

Thats exactly the mindset I expected and that I am opposing to. Its the mindset of people going through military education only, while missing out studying uproad in another culture.

adal,

All of the “sharing of cultures” is a fine idea. I have no problem with it. However, when your country is the target of a madman (9/11) you dam well better have some hard nosed military men to deal with threat! I enjoyed TC’s article and I applaud the training that those guys go through. Thank God for them!

Get this through your very thick skull! Americans want nothing to do with war! When you are attacked, or there is an extreme threat of an attack, that could kill perhaps tens of thousands of people it’s time to stand up and kick some ass!

Now go back to your hate America first web site and leave us alone, you whacko!

(Sorry guys I had to get a little nasty there).

@ZEB

But you defended against the wrong people. Saddam (though this american installed monster is really worth getting rid of) had nothing to do with Bin Laden. So you kicked “some” ass, but the wrong one. Strong, but stupid.

BTW I dont believe you ever integrated yourselve into another culture, else you would not sound so intolerant and uneducated.

" Now go back to your hate America first web site and leave us alone, you whacko! "

Thanks for explaing your understanding of culture - it goes very well with the atmosphere created in TCs article. I dont hate America, worked there, trained there - most educated people there make fun of military fanatics like you are. Most educated Americans are ashamed of the chaos this monkey in the white house created under the name of “War against terror” and the amount of destruction his advisors have created in foreign politics.

For your information, “Der Spiegel”, a very respected german newsmagazine and far away from hating america titles “Will america be democratic again”, italian newspapers criticice this politics, america is loosing a tremendeous amount of sympathy and respect within such a short time.

Bush is Bin Ladens best man, the current actions support terror.

“Thats exactly the mindset I expected and that I am opposing to. Its the mindset of people going through military education only, while missing out studying uproad in another culture.”

Many Americans (too many Americans) are leftist nuts, kind of like you Adal, with the mindset that there should be no war. What are we to do? Some stupid SOBs fly planes into our buildings, we learned our lesson and now it is time for revenge. If you do not agree with us, go and join you little terrorist network.
Great post ZEB

adal stands for “a dumb ass liberal.”

I am well educated, own two seperate businesses of my own, and am surrounded by successful, educated people every day of my life.

We do not agree with you.

Don’t pretend to speak for us.

Thank you.

Here’s a nice Bulgarian perspective on the U.S. war effort.

Apparently the whole world doesn’t disagree with the Americans. However, I will happily cede I am wrong once Adal shows his ballot initiative on the subject. Or at least a world-wide opinion poll? Perhaps a poll of all the educated people in the world? In the U.S.? At least an accurate sample?

Adal,

As soon as a German newspaper becomes important enough to guide American foriegn policy I’ll read it. Until then don’t wave it in my face as if it’s suppose to mean something.

If it was not for President Bush Bin Laden would still be “running” Afghanistan with the Tali ban. I don’t agree with every move Bush has made as President, but he has made some gutsy ones and I respect him for that. When you are in charge you have to make the calls, you can’t sit around and ring your hands worrying about which foreign country is going to like what you do, and which one is not. In the long run we can all sleep a little safer because he Bush is President!

Did you read about the latest bombing in Iraq? 140 people killed! Who was believed to have done the bombing? El Quida! Where do you think these guys would be fighting if we were not there? In the good ole’ USA! Bush brought the war over there, you are apparently to blinded by hate to see that.

President Bush made some enemies when he made his decision regarding Iraq. All of the free thinking liberal hand wringers wanted to talk the issue to death first. How many more attacks would innocent American citizens have endured? When we removed saddam from power in Iraq all of the two bit dictators around the world got the message. people like Momar Kadafi read the message loud and clear why don’t you?

I will leave you with a little tune. I want you to sing this song over and over again:

“Justice is the one thing you should always find, you got to saddle up your boys you got to draw a hard line. When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune. We’ll all meet back at the local saloon. We’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces. Singing whisky for my men, and beer for my horses.”

But you defended against the wrong people. Saddam (though this american installed monster is really worth getting rid of) had nothing to do with Bin Laden. So you kicked “some” ass, but the wrong one. Strong, but stupid.

He might not have had anything to do with bin Laden, that remains to be seen. He was harboring Abu Nidal and Abu Abbas which were the most wanted terrorists in the world before bin Laden started blowing shit up. So he did have links to terror, at least by aiding and abetting escape from lawful authorities. Even Ghadaffi figured out that doing that was a bad idea.

American installed? Really? Have you even looked into how he got to power?

Saddam joined the socialist Baath party when he was 19. He made his mark three years later when he participated in a 1959 assassination attempt against Iraqi Prime Minister Abudul Karim Kassim. Saddam was shot in the leg during the botched effort and fled the country for several years, first to Syria, then Egypt.
In 1968 he helped lead the revolt that finally brought the Baath party to power under Gen. Ahmed Hassan Bakr. In the process, he landed the vice president?s post, from which he built an elaborate network of secret police to root out dissidents. Eleven years later he deposed Bakr and plastered the streets with 20-foot-high portraits of himself.

America had nothing to do with him until the Iran-Iraq war. We liked the Iranians less at the time so we felt supporting him would weaken them. Bad politics but not evil world domination.

My mindset is that we removed the Ba’athists from power and that was an overall good thing for the Iraqi people and world at large. The people that are doing the killing over there now are fighting a lost cause. They’d have a better future if they’d put their energy into building their country instead of killing their neighbors, or our soldiers. Since what they are doing is terrorism by it’s very nature I do think that fertilizing orange groves with their bodies is probably the most positive thing most of them could do.

Adal, what do you think we should do with terrorists and murderers? Tag and release them into the wild like a trapped garbage eating bear? Rehabilitate them in some kind of school? Try to understand why they’re so violent and bent on killing so it doesn’t offend us so much when they do? What?

The whole world is against us and what we’re doing in Iraq. Really?

Russia and France were the key votes against but they are far from being the whole world.

Although many of the forces are token in size here are the nations that sent troops to Iraq: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, Georgia, El Salvador, Estonia, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. That’s 27 nations, some of them I’ve even heard of before.

So a couple of nations derail the vote at the UN and it’s the whole world against us. Hmm. I think there’s some spin doctoring in left field.

Adal, I am one of those redneck sensless Americans who serves in the Marine Corps. I can tell you this, FUCK Osama, Fuck Sadam, Fuck all Terrorist coward bitches and Fuck all you bleeding heart mother fucking crybabies who never defended their country or had a thread of honor in your body to give back and yet talk shit about MY country and my fellow Americans and my brothers who serve with me. For you to talk shit about America is to talk shit about all who gave their life for this country so we as Americans can be as obnoxious as free as we want. I dont see boatloads of people risking thier lives to flee this awsome country but yet daily people risk thier lives daily to get here. And as for everyone in America being fed up with our president, I dont know too many people who dont like him. I am pleased with his performance and am hoping he will be re-elected. Sure the media plays up the loudmouth fuckers who protest the war but what kind or ratings do you think they would get if they covered all the people who agree with the U.S. stance on the war. Controversy sells. So keep talking shit BOY and maybe one day you and this ole redneck southern boy will meet up. OOH RAH !!!

Willie always knows how to put the right spin on things!

Second Steely (always a pleasure to read your posts) and South Central.

That is all.
