Sheesh…give him a 50 and take him to the store…let him buy whatever he wants…
Yeah - we’ve done that. It worked pretty well, actually. But, he’s still the age (six) where he likes to unwrap a boatload of crap. And he usually gets it.
Don’t get my wrong, I’ll take the money…but you guys do realize that it’s just a loan that the government is forcing you to take in which you will pay taxes on later, right?
That’s why it’s called a “payment” and not a “refund” or “rebate.”

Always nice when the crook shares with the victims.
BTW: No check for me and the mrs. Made too much. We’re guilty of the sin of getting educations and working hard, so we don’t deserve any money.
So, any married couple that has an AGI less than $150,000 per year, or any single person with an AGI of less than $75,000, you consider to be A) uneducated and B) lazy???

I don’t believe he’s slamming the “bourgeoisie” per se, but the idiocy of our government punishing those that do earn more than the middle class.

Wrong. It’s called an economic stimulus PAYMENT, not an economic stimulus rebate.
A rebate is a refund on something already paid. But even folks who didn’t pay taxes are receiving the payment. However, people making over $75,000 are not. Therefore, this creates a (slight) redistribution of wealth. It is up to you how you feel about this.
That’s why it’s a payment, and NOT a rebate.

You earn and deserve more than we could ever hope to pay. It is guys like you who make it possible for us to even work and live in the first place.
I think anyone who takes fire for us, our country, should never pay taxes again.

I wouldn’t say I’d be opposed to that but i would of course defiately not expect it, but i do think the gov’t should def do more for veterans AFTER they serve. I guess that is a whole different thread on another forum though.

Six is tough…shiny paper is like crack to a six year old…do you got him on an allowance yet ? Best thing I ever did was sit my 3 down and explain they’d get 5 bucks per week to do whatever they wanted and that my wallet was heretofore closed to them for buying stuff. They got double if they agreed to put it in the bank for a year. My oldest saved enough to buy an apple laptop over 4 years. They get a dollar raise per week every year…I think 7 or 8 is when they actually undestood it. If you’re interested there’s a book called Bank of Dad, can’t remember the author, but lots of really good stuff in there about kids and money.

No allowance for the six year old. But I do have a 15 year old that doesn’t understand the value of saving. Against my better judgment, he got his Christmas wish last year, and he got a prepaid cellular. He literally went through a couple thousand minutes texting nonsensical BS with other kids, in a matter of two months. After he blew minutes that didn’t belong to him (30 minutes belonged to us for practical purposes), and several sexually explicit texts (where were those chicks when I was in school) we took it back.
Anyway, the point of that blather is I will look up that book, as apparently I have a lot to learn and pass on to both of them. Thanks for the reference!
There was some debate over the “Economic Stimulus Payment”, and whether it was taxable.
I’m not sure what loopholes will present themselves come tax season '08, but today I received a notice from Uncle Sam that the money is not considered taxable, and will not have to be reported on next year’s income tax forms.
