Tapering Off of Clomid?

Hello folks!

I used to be on TRT injection for about 3 years and towards the end of those years, I’ve also supplemented it with HCG hoping to get my boys back. Unfortunately the semen analysis showed ZERO sperm count. So, I stopped the injection (100 mg/week), went on high doses of HCG for two weeks and then the doc put me on 25mg of Clomid everyday. I’ve been on it for about 10 days and just now I am starting to feel fatigued, no sex drive, no wood, etc. During the first several days I felt great. I am thinking by E2 is starting to rise. However, I’ve tried anastrozole and letrozole in the past and had very nasty sides and either no effect on E2 (anastrozole) or completely diminished it (very low dose of Letro).

Therefore, I am thinking of starting to taper off of Clomid immediately. My question is:

  1. Is it too soon to start tapering off? Or do I need to be on it for a while to get my sperm count to come back up?
  2. What is the protocol for tapering off of Clomid?
  3. Is my dose of 25mg ED too much even to get my sperm count back up?

At this point, my entire goal is to get my wife pregnant quickest way possible Once this is accomplished then I can worry about getting back on TRT.

See HPTA restart below.

Did you ever to TRT with not hGG, how long?

What has happened to the size of your testes and how they hang?

Do you know if you ever were fertile?

25mg Clomid ED is too much.
High doses of hCG are wrong too.
Both can create very high E2 levels.
Some feel terrible on Clomid, usually very quickly. Nolvadex does not do that.

Evaluate your overall thyroid function by checking oral body temperatures as per the thyroid basics sticky. Thyroid hormone fT3 is what gets the job done and it regulates mitochondrial activity, the source of ATP which is the universal currency of cellular energy. This is part of the body’s temperature control loop. This can get messed up if you are iodine deficient. In many countries, you need to be using iodized salt. Other countries add iodine to dairy or bread.

My testes did only a little larger after the HCG. I was on just test. cyp. for 3 years and then with HCG for about 3 months. Yes I was fertile before the TRT; I have a daughter.

I read through your sticky:
I will try 25mg of clomid OED instead of ED. Should I try anastrozole again even though I had bad sides when I took it during my TRT+HCG? I used to take 0.5 mg/week E3d and my E2 was still at around 50 and I was dead tired all the time and absolutely no energy. Do I need to increase the dose perhaps? I remember that when I came off of the anastrozole I felt less drowsy.

hCG does not contain FSH which is important for sperm production. However, guys here who have been doing T+hCG have been making babies.

T without hCG for 3 years may have caused permanent damage. But see what clomid does as your pituitary will release FSH.

Please read and understand that sticky.

How did this ever turn out for you?

4 years later… woah

Also interested in the outcome. How’d it go?

Hey man would love to hear how this eventually worked out. Thanks!

It was 4 years ago lol. You could make a post asking the question and get some up to date answers maybe?
