Do you have some nom nom recipes you can share? Like when your Mom is there, does she make authentic food?
I’ve tried to make my own , but it hardly tastes like the stuff I’d get at a food place…my favorite is

Ooh, thanks for the sugar-waxing recipe, and the arms look good!
Good luck on your quest for making weight. You’ve gotten lots of good tips.
The guy in the vid you posted is a MACHINE for making his opponents tap out - very impressive.

I assume by authentic, you mean Indian ![]()
The problem with authentic mom recipes is that they aren’t recipes. If I asked her how to make something she gives me a list of ingredients. It’s mostly trial and error from there.
Why would you do 60 of anything for a warmup? That sounds like serious overkill. A warm up is to WARM UP your body; not fatigue it, you silly girl!

Sometimes I just do, rather than think.
I’m tutoring 5th graders, it’s a mistake they make a lot. I may not be smarter than a fifth grader.
I had a dream last night that I was being attacked and Dallas was just a little bit away. I kept yelling his name but he ignored me because he was busy. I woke up feeling disappointed.
My arms feel really smooth though, and this no shampoo thing is working great so it’s been a mixed bag sort of day.
I readjusted my plan based on various input from you all. So, at lunch:
Warm up
Shoulder Dislocates 3x20
Not as warm up, but as rehab.
Then the elliptical for 30min. I got like 2.5 miles done.
There was a guy running on a treadmill in front of me, it looked really pretty. I think next steady state day I may venture onto the treadmill.
BJJ is tonite.

HAHA! You’re nutty. But seriously, I only shampoo once a week, or if things are looking a bit greazy I shampoo just the roots, curly hair is tricky like that. I also don’t ever brush it, but that’s obvs.
Man, there was something I wanted to ask you re: combat sports…crap. I’ll come back when I remember.
pch: forgive me if you’ve explained this already but are you only rising your hair with water?

I babble on about it in the TK threads, I don’t think I have here. I’m doing one just water rinse a week and once a week I’m cleaning with a baking soda mixture then conditioning with ACV with essential oils added.

The treadmill is the debil. The DEBIL I tell you! I have never experienced more IT band tightness, hamstring tightness, pain and overall discomfort than when I returned to the hamster machine. Don’t do it pch!

Haha!
Interesting about the no shampooing. Is there a particular reason you’re trying that out? I’ve often wondered if the shampoo was fucking up the natural balance of oils on my scalp. Are you finding that your hair’s falling flat at the roots, or has it adjusted now?
Oh, and I’m not a big treadmill fan either. I use it every now and then for incline walks, but if you’re gonna run, I think it’s better to head outdoors or to a track.
just to play devil’s advocate my 30 mins of moderate speed cardio prevented any doms and pains that I usually have after squats. Depends on intensity and stuff. just my 2 cents.
Monday 5/10
BJJ
I should have stretched after the elliptical, because my hips were super tight for warm ups. What’s it mean if I have to warm up for warm ups?
I also learned that we have arm hair in order to keep the gi from rubbing off the skin on your hands and arms. If you, I don’t know…wax your arms over the weekend? You don’t have that protection and your skin gets rubbed raw while drilling. The skin on my hands has been burning all day today!
Putting my being a girl aside, we went over opens and passes. I’ve been having trouble with keeping the shoulders pinned while standing to open, and it turns out that I’ve been thinking about it wrong. We say don’t touch the mat when you’re in someone’s closed guard, you’re not fighting the mat. I wasn’t taking into consideration that the same applies even when you’re holding the gi. I need to push them away from me, not push them into the mat. Such a little thing, such a big difference. So, I drilled that a bit, it’ll take some practice, but now that I get it, it’ll work.
Then we did the classic knee drive. I love that pass. I need to remember to keep my legs active the whole time.
Next was a knee bar and an ankle lock. I got the general details, but I feel like I have so many basics to work on that knee bars aren’t high on my list.

Well, post break up I usually cut it, but I really want to keep the length so this was the odd hair thing I went with. Also, I’ve been trying to be more natural in the things I do.
I’ve never really shampooed that often anyway, maybe twice a week? So, my scalp doesn’t get greasy that easily. The baking soda and ACV leaves it feeling like it’s been just shampooed. When it seems a little greasy mid week I rinse it with water and massage the natural oils so they’re not just at my scalp. It leaves my hair shiny rather than weighed down.
When I train twice a day it’s unrealistic to wash it every time, so I just let it do what it wants. I spend a significant amount of time rolling around on the ground with boys that are comfortable enough with me to make fun of me. If it was a noticeable change they would have made fun of me for it by now, and they haven’t.
hi ya…i hear you on the no shampoo issue. i wouldn’t say i don’t use it, but it’s about every other day. long hair and tendency for dryness allows that. i’m also a hair product snob and only use Aveda. i highly recommend the products…“natural” shit out of the forests and such. smells delicious and they have something for all kinds of situations.
i’ve got some catching up to do with your log and investigate this BJJ stuff. i’m intrigued by combat stuff (sorry, i’m really ignorant on all the training styles and such) i’ll just say i like the ability to beat the ever loving crap out of somebody if it ever came down to me or them… ah, crap, i’m babbling…
I did measurements this morn, so its been a month.
4/15 - 5/15
Weight 170 - 166
Neck 13.5 - 13
Arm 12.5 - 12
Shoulders: 44.5 - 43.5
Boobs:41 - 40
Smallest part of waist: 33 - 32
Largest part of waist: 39 - 38
Hips: 42 - 41
Thigh: 23.5 - 23
Calf: 14.5 - 14.5
^seeee, that’s GOOD!! now just KEEP IT UP! ![]()
I like taking measurements…and like I told Deb, shrinking and having to buy new stuff is a good motivator to continue…
I need to spend less time killling threads and more time updating my log! I’ve come to expect that no week goes as planned. I’ve decided to try to add some steady state cardio, it’ll help with endurance and with the suck it up factor. When summer finally comes I’ll try to run outside, until then I’m sticking to machines.
Anyhow, last tuesday was supposed to be an off day, and I was hanging out with some of the bjj guys. Well the activity they chose to do, was crash someone’s elses gym and take thier class! So Tuesday I rolled.
Eh, we didn’t really learn much. I got an interesting perspective on escaping triangles, and the warm up was more of a workout. After I roles a bit. The guys were all really green, so the rolling wasn’t hard, just kinda floating guys above me on my knees. It’s a lot like playng aeroplane. You just keep their weight off of your vital parts.
Even though it wasn’t hard rolling, we were there for 3 hours, so by the end I was exhausted, esp since I had eaten like it was an off day. Regardless it was fun. It’s nice to the better than people, lol.
Wends I took completely off. I was exhausted, and need to be better about taking actual off days with no guilt. I think stress is playing a huge roll in my body composition. Everytime my mind wanders over to Dallas I can actually feel an adrenaline spike, it’s a very visceral reaction and it’s not very good for me. So I need to figure out how to manage stress with out eating it, or running to the gym. Wends I slept, but I need to actually start journaling. I bought it. I just haven’t taken the time to sit down and write it.
