I haven’t noticed any crazy teal and purple pads, but there is this one guy that seems to use that colour scheme for his gym attire.

All in all, Fitness First doesn’t seem that bad. They had Chad Waterbury come do a seminar at a FF club down in London.

They’ve got a UK website as well (http://www.fitnessfirst.co.uk/). I never realised they were around in any other countries either

Crazy, huh? All these companies becoming international. Opening branches and stuff all over the world!

Maybe Biotest should take some notes and open a UK factory, which could supply all of Europe. Run their accounts out of Luxemburg (4% flat tax for companies).

Something to think about guys!

I’m based in East Anglia, I train at a Fitness First gym. Not brilliant, but it has olympic bars, a squat rack and not that many people who try and curl in it (mainly due to a big guy called Dave who squats a ton and tends to growl at people curling when he wants to squat).

For anyone based near Cambridge, check out Core Cambridge (google it, they have a website). I’ve only been there once for a physical assessment, but they have no machines, multiple power racks and oly bars, a 100m indoor track for sled pulling / pushing and from what I can gather, all the trainers are top class guys.[/quote]

Core Cambridge looks really good. Might check them out.

One of the guys that runs the place is a fellow T-Nationer. He did a series of posts about building the gym, I’ll fish it out later. It’s interesting, even if you’re not planning on visiting them.

I remember seeing that when he first posted, never been though.

I train at home, but it could be worth a visit to get my form checked out on a few lifts, do you know if they do that kind of thing?

Where is this “Legends” in Hackney?
I lived just off of Victoria Park for a while and will moving back to the area soon so a local club would be perfect.

This thread made me curious and I just stumbled on this link for an Oly gym in Bethnal Green ( http://www.colinmcnulty.com/blog/2008/10/29/bethnal-green-weightlifting-club/ )
Looks pretty good. I will try and check it out in the next couple weeks.

That Gym you posted looks better then Legends. But if you still want to know, it’s across the road from Dalston Kingsland station.

Here’s a picture from Google street view. The outlined steel door, goes up a staircase to the gym, above the butchers.

Thanks LR.
I’m back in London in April so i’ll check it out. It’s always good to keep the quality gyms on the radar.

btw, i love that the gym is above a butchers. classic!

No worries man. Not only above a butchers, but beside a Sainsburys as well. Always helps.

Can’t say for sure, but I don’t see why not

I’m Spartacus!
erm I mean I’m a Brit too, Lancaster, NW UK

A wonder if the guys who run T-Nation/Biotest ever considered opening their own gyms?

“West End Barbell”? Hmmm.
