Why is the technical guitarist standing out in the yard?
He can’t find the key and he doesn’t know when to come in.

LOL that’s awesome.

Since there are a few guys here who have spent time in a studio(not sitting on a couch like me) maybe they can answer a question I’ve had for many years.
In this Aerosmith song or more specifically the solo @ the 2:38 mark, there is a strange note that I’ve always wondered if it was a real note or a mistake left in there. It sounds so odd to me, almost sounds like a fart lol. It’s note like a palm mute or anything, perhaps a deadened string note?

Wow, nice ear. I never noticed that before. Doesn’t even sound like a guitar to me. Sounds like it’s on a different track.

First off great album, great song.
Honestly it could be anything - yea, maybe he bumped the bridge or it just might be a random noise. Maybe they punched him in there and it’s noticeable - but any punch ins I ever did were easy to make smooth - can’t imagine Joe Perry and Douglas or Messina fucking that up…lol…

I think it’s just a F up, plain and simple. It’s botched and they left it in thinking it sounded cool, is my guess. It’s not like Joe Perry is an uber talent or anything…
And why can’t he even play guitar any more? He’s really bad now. Every time I’ve seen him play live it’s so sloppy and noisy I can’t believe it. Embarrassing really.

A pic of me around '93 in Washington DC with my band Orca. We were signed to a small label out of N. Carolina and put out one record. On vinyl, no CD’s. Did some touring on the east coast, but went nowhere… I don’t know what happened to that Les Paul, lost it somewhere. Really. Still have a Gibson SG, An SG bass. A fender Strat, and a 1969 Gibson J 45 acoustic. Cool thread guys, rock on!
Nice Les Paul!! Old soapbar pickup in the neck - sweet.

I know there is a large hate/jealousy club out there, but I’ve always had a crush on YJM. Not for speed, but for being ferocious with attack, vibrato and his hammer/pull and legato. Harmonic minor and diminished arpeggios…I love 'em!
Hes an incredible guitar player, and on a technical level he is definitely up there with the best, but i think to a lot of people (myself admittedly included) it just doesnt sound like good music.
Its impressive and i can appreciate the talent but there is never a moment in my week that i would be in the mood to listen to this.
just my 2 cents.

Skynett do you know a Long Island player named Anthony Bambino?
LOL - absolutely. Used to be in a band called Spoiled Brat. Mike Varney from guitar player magazine hooked me up with him in the 80’s. His band was coming from Connecticut to live and play here in NY, so I went to the house where they were renting and jammed with him. He was also in a band called Lights and Shadows with a great singer I know (actually went to HS with this vocalist). He’s a great guitar player.
Ha - small world! : )
If that was the house in Westbury, I trained his German Shepard to protect that upstairs apartment where all his equipment was. He had a 3 piece outfit called Conspiracy then. Yeah, he was really really good.

No, that must have been after that then because it was a house in Deer Park I think - and he was still in Spoiled Rotten at the time. : )
Yea it was Spoiled Rotten - not Spoiled Brat.
I ‘white wash’ stained it to make it look like a 19th century cupboard (or wall or fence) that a family would have used to mark the height/date of the kids and put hand/foot prints on.
The prints are my kids. My and wife’s prints on the back. Satin clear finish. It’s not ‘finish polished’ in case we have another kid. The clear finish is just to protect the current prints.
I filled the bridge holes (had a big tele plate on it) and ordered all black hardware. This will be a hardtail strat-style with 2 Seymour Duncan pearly gates.
I leveled, recrowned, and oiled a half-scalloped Warmoth reverse hockey head neck that I had on my yellow westone (see previous pages in this thread). That will go on this body.
I’ll post finish pics.
Steely, you’re a badass.
Have I missed something or have locking nuts gone away. Like on the old Kahler and Floyd Rose tremolo systems.
People don’t play them as much anymore, but take a look at any good metal band and the guitarists use them. My fav guitar isn’t my Les Paul, its my Yahmaha with Floyd Rose
