T-Nation Guitar Players' Thread

Recently acquired a Morley “switchless” Wah. It uses an optical sensor instead of a button like a Crybaby style wah so no switching noise.

Pedal wasn’t consistent and wasn’t coming on correctly so I took it apart, cleaned it, realigned the footswitch and adjusted the spring. I thought I might have to replace the optical sensor but they are fine.

In the pic, the red objects on the board (pedal guts) are led’s that activate a sensor when the pedal is depressed slightly so no need to push all the way down to activate

Vid after (pedal is upsidedown for test)

Tell me about your rigs there. What model Marshall? What are the Peavey’s in the back? I see a head there.

Pedals: I see the Boss delay, a MXR ZW Overdrive, a Big Muff, but I can’t make out the others-- what are they?

Right now I think I have:
2 Boss DD-3’s, CE-5, OD-2, SD-3, DS-1
Danelectro Pastrami OD
Morley NSW
Compressors
Choruses
EQ’s

I’m missing a few… but something like that. They come and go. I’ll mod and flip them.

The Marshall is a 2266 Vintage Modern. The 50w head. Great amp. The main Peavey is a 100w Classic head and cabinet, I also have a couple Peavey combos and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe that I like allot. My pedal board has changed it goes - Cry baby - Aqua Puss- Swollen Pickle Fuzz - Green Rhino - Mosfet - EHX Qtron - EHX small clone - Univibe. I have others that I switch in and out.

Let’s get some playing going on in this thread! A little Randy for ya… : )

Name that riff! - YouTube

This isn’t me of course but I thought it’s worth posting. Pretty good rendition.

Some new toys:

Carvin Legacy (Steve Vai series I) 100w 212

Carvin XV 212 100w

I picked this up in FL for $40. Doesn’t pass sound, either tubes or caps, but I’m going to rip it apart, do a cap jobs (needs them anyway) and convert it to a 1x12.

US Charvel San Dimas Model 2 (Tele style) with Seymours and Floyd Rose.

That thing is absolutely beautiful in person.

That’s really nice. Where’s the neck?

The neck has yet to be purchased. It will be a US Charvel maple fretboard.

This type of stuff makes me really want to take up the whole Luthier hobby.

hmm, not sure how to post a video. Hope it works, it’s an improv.

I love playing too.

I’m not a guitar player but I thought that was fucking sexy. Honestly, if I was a girl I’d be soaking right now.

Your tone is sick. What gear are you using?

A J-Station through the computer. That thing was really cheap and sounds good.
The Strat has Dimarzio pickups, HS-2 on the neck and HS-1 on the bridge. Don’t know what I was thinking with the last one :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks for the comments!

@meso – Nice chops man!

A nice vibrato sets apart the men from the boys. Well done!

The pickups sound REALLY good for shredding. At least the neck one.

I have some tunes. Nothing to die for but, if anyone likes it. The torn to shreds one it’s kinda insane, hard to pull-off live.

I recently came up on a 1952 Gibson J160 acoustic the kind the Beatles (2 of the) used.

I have two 7-string guitars, a Jackson Dinky with an active pickup EMG 707
F207 ESP LTD gun-metal blue with a double locking tremolo

I play a Flextone II Line 6 half-stack that is 300 watts… I love it, I’m pro computers

A friend of mine has a Fractal and it’s AMAZING I want one.

There’s a link to my band, and I use a McPherson acoustic guitar made with Brazilian rosewood… it’s also my friends… you can probably hear it best on track one, I also used a hollow body PRS on some of the tracks as well.

Can you post a picture of this? I’d love to see it.

Question for you guys.

What’s the big difference between an Epi Hummingbird and a Gibson of the same name besides price, really?

Is the wood different? Neck? Tuning hardware?

I love the look, I love how they sound. What’s crazy is that at my local GC there’s about $2000 between the two and I (as basically a very novice player) can’t tell the difference between the two.
