Dude. They beat the F-in Gators. Take a look in the almanac. Gators do the same f-in thing every year. Come out like National Champs and then they lose it. Gators will have a 4 loss season. And then in the end who did you beat? Some team that 3 other teams beat. Are you proud of fumbling 5 times? Because that basically tells me that the Gators LOST. Not that LSU won.
It proved to me that you know shit about shit. Your prediction was wrong, you wrote off LSU as some second rate football team. My point, was that even on a bad day LSU beat Florida. You ran your mouth like you knew something about college football. Just suck it up and take it like a man. And YES LSU won and Florida lost. A win is a win no matter how ugly it was.

Not completely true. Both USC and Texas won this past weekend, but Texas moved to the number 1 rank in the BCS polls. If a win was just a win then USC would’ve stayed where they were, but obviously there are more things that are taken into account than just who won.

You were the one saying “fear the stache”, and Pitt will be a fixture in the Top 15, or even Top 10 in the next few years. Yet they can’t beat a JV powderpuff team right now. So please - do tell me your logic in the cheerleading. Either that or please give me your definition of moron.
Tech will finish the rest of the Big 12 without a loss, and go to the Cotton Bowl. I doubt Pitt will get a bowl bid. That has to burn your ass - don’t it?
Gall has nothing to do with being a laughing stock. Where did you go to college that they don’t teach reading comprehension? I have no earthly idea what you are trying to say here: “Baylor at least has good academics and is expected to suck at everything academic…” I’m not a big hoops fan, but it seems to me that Tech beat KU last year and went deeper in the NCAA tourney than the Jayhawks. What basketball has to do with the price of tea in China - particularly in a football thread - is beyond me. I find it comical that someone who has never been to Lubbock has the insight to comment on the quality of education one can get at Tech. Once again - this is a football thread. WTF does academics have to do with anything?
Your fans are classless, unfoundedly arrogant and have a massive inferiority complex. Your FB team consistently feasts on some of the worst OOC schedules in all of D1-A (and D1-AA for that matter) and consistently gets wiped by legitimate opponents. Wow, you guys posted 8-win seasons w/ bowl appearences by beating mostly crap teams. Impressive…
But not as impressive as Pitt’s meteoric rise to national power. Maybe you will have room to talk if the Panthers can get more than 3 or 4 wins in a single season.
But hate Tech all you want. Call them names. I’m sure it’ll completely destroy them in preparation for the Cotton Bowl. Besides you probably need something to do now that Pitt sucks ass.

Top 10 teams are all supposed to be good. USC @ #9 was a close game … winning on the road in college football is tough. Now, if they’d have lost, that would be another story … but somehow, they won. That’s all.

Gall? Texas Tech is the laughing stock of the Big 12, not Baylor or Kansas. Baylor at least has good academics and is expected to suck at everything academic and Kansas has a bball program that TT can only dream of ever having.

Everybody talks up Vince Young as the man, and puts the “other” Vick right with him, but you have to give this kid here some props as well. You Big 12 guys probably know who I’m talking about.
He’s a one man team, too bad he didn’t get on a better program. Sometimes being loyal has it’s downfalls…
Okay, I just started reading this thread on page 8, but here are my thoughts on some of the issues brought up:
The Big East sucks in football. I am sorry, but that is just fact. What, 1 team in the Top 25 and #18 at that? Come on. When the SEC, Big 10, and ACC have 6, 5, and 4 teams respectively in the top 25 (and pretty much dominate the top 10), the Big Least is just an afterthought. Perhaps they will rise to power once again, but they suck right now.
The SEC has several good teams (6 in the top 25), but I really don’t think there is one dominant team in that conference right now, especially since Alabama lost their main (only) offensive weapon. I live in the south and get to see these games all the time, and it’s not like it used to be. It’s less of a topheavy conference now, although there are more quality teams. It wouldn’t bother me if an undefeated SEC team got left out of the title game, because I don’t think Georgia or Alabama could play with the top 3 teams (USC, Va Tech, Texas).
Texas Tech got crushed by Texas. No other way to put it. Overrated due to a weak schedule. Sorry. Not a bad team, but they had no business being in the top 10.
As much as I hate the fact that USC gets to waltz through a light schedule (ND is about the only exception), I still think you have to beat the man to be the man, so they should have some priority ranking-wise until someone stops their 29 game win streak. Talk as much shit as you want about them having a bad defense or anything else; they have still won 29 in a row…that’s quality whether you like them or not. And I think Bush should get the nod for the Heisman…him or the USC offensive line as a group. Leinart is good, but his surrounding cast makes him look great. However, the talk about them having won 2 titles is gay…the BCS is the only thing I recognize.
JTS… maybe if I gave three craps about the BCS I would have taken your last post seriously. The BCS is what it is and you’ll see teams ranked where they should not be. The fact of the matter is that if you were to mactch up the #1 team (Texas) against the #2 team (USC) and USC won the game from some bullshit call or by some missed fieldgoal by Texas it all could mean shit in the end because USC still won. Follow me? We all get caught up in the BCS circus and we forget the game that is being played. To hell with the BCS, all that matters is what was left on the field and on the scoreboard. If we let the BCS teach us the game then you yourself have forgotten what the game is about. No matter the rank, any given Saturday, anything can happen in College Football.
Habitual wrote:

I’ll agree with you on that
Obviously, that would be the National Championship game so a win would be a win. But, you could’ve used an example that isn’t likely to be the Rose Bowl. Let’s say Alabama vs. Geogia, and Texas vs. UCLA. Say for example that Alabama slaughters Georgia, and UCLA beats Texas by a field goal in a low scoring game. Since Texas was 1st, does that mean that just because UCLA beat them , that UCLA should get to play in the Rose Bowl…OR…Since Alabama slaughtered the really good number 3 team, should Alabama get to play in the Rose Bowl? Obviously in this situation, a win is not a win…more things have to be taken into account than just who won to decide who moves on to play for the National Championship.
Well, I don’t like the BCS either but these days football teams aren’t looking for JUST a win. Sure, they want to win, and they need to win, but it ultimately all boils down to who plays in the Rose Bowl. I guarentee that any player out there would rather have the National title than anything else(other than maybe the hesiman), and to get the national title, they need to be higher ranked. How to become a higher rank you ask? Well, by doing more than just winning the game. Sure, Alabama beat Tennessee this past weekend, but did they play the kind of game that would put them where every other team ultimately wants to be(Rose Bowl)? No. So…I stick with my original post saying, a win is not a win.

The reason you won’t see a dominant team emerge is because the good teams all have to play each other, knocking them back a few steps every time. Of course, if they had a weak schedule like USC, then you’d see an unimaginable difference.
Prothro was Alabama’s only offensive weapon…Wow! I thought they still had Ken Darby and Keith Brown.
Number 3 VaTech got their asses handed to them by an extremely fast Miami team. Looks like the hokies just crapped all over whatever chance they thought they had to play for the NC,
And WTF is up with the UCLA Bruins? They got beat up like a red-headed stepchild by Arizona. A number 7 team losing by 30+ to an unranked opponent should drop the Bruins out of the top 10 - and should damn well better be ranked behind Tech - whose only loss was to the Longhorns.
If there is one team out there that can beat USC its University of Miami. USC has been getting by on offense… and well… that doesn’t happen against the number 1 defense in the nation.

Who knows what was up with UCLA. Hopefully it will be enough fire under their ass to give it to USC next week. I think this is exactly what UCLA needed to get the job done. I always like seeing a team with a recent loss going up against an undefeated. They have more to prove.
Another thing… if Miami goes into the ACC and beats FSU how do you judge that. They beat the one team that beat them. Unfortunately its a numbers game… damn BCS system.
Texas is a great team and they deserve it. I just have to throw my questions out about USC.

umm … UCLA licks, sucks, blows, etc … that’s all. UCLA is Maurice Drew …shut him down, and UCLA loses every game.
it was funny though. before the game yesterday, i told my buddy that arizona was just the team that could take UCLA.
i really was looking forward to USC stomping the crap out of them, but Arizona! man, that’s even better
btw, i saw an ad in today’s paper. Cal is looking for a quarterback. ;(
UCLA got spanked yesterday. They were due for a loss. They have been over-achieving all year. As a fan I am proud that they are 8-1, they are already guarenteed a decent bowl game and their program has been boosted by their great start this year. If Maurice Drew (he’s a jr.) leaves this year, UCLA can’t expect to win more than 7 games next year. They better hope that this years good start helped them gain some good incoming freshman. Their ranking will drop to about 13-15.
Oregon is looking tough. They beat a good Berkley team yesterday and their only loss to Southern Cal puts their record at 8-1. They are creeping up on a top 10 ranking, especially after beating a ranked CAL team. Cal has had some tough losses, in my opinion they can beat just about any team in the nation on any given day. They just haven’t lived up to potential yet. Except for USC, CAL will win out all of their games and their bowl game.
What happened to ASU, they nearly beat LSU at the beg. of the season and after the defeat to USC, they just fell apart.

Easy Bill! The Heels are the most underrated team in college football right now (not the best, just underrated). Other than Louisville, they have given every team they faced all that they could handle (the Miami game was a LOT closer than the score indicated).
NC State is having a tough year. They got a big win this weekend, though…
