The ACC isn’t too bad, but the Big East, Big-10, and PAC-10 are just crappy, over-hyped conferences in my opinion.

I’d like to know how the Big East is an overhyped conference. Back in the day, it was seen as Miami and the Seven Dwarves. Only a few years ago, BC was a perennial no-name.com Bowl team that consistently lost to Pitt (3 straight and 4 of the last 5 seasons) and VT struggled to finish 3rd or 4th behind Miami and Pitt/WVU. Yet back then we still sucked. Hmmm, correct me if I’m wrong, but these were the same teams that were hyped as a major boost to the ACC?
Oh, and let’s not forget Purdue, preseason top 10 and where are they now? 2-4 with a loss to Northwestern. Michigan has to scratch and claw to beat PSU and get to 3-3. Oklahoma…preseason #4? LMAO. Yeah, I hear they’re good this year…(rolling my eyes). Yet you really don’t hear the media relentlessly harp on how bad these teams are, unlike the daily rant against the Big East.
So again, tell me how the Big East conference is “overhyped”? Inquiring minds would like to know.

It is my opinion that, on the whole, the Big East is a weak conference. If you moved those teams to the midwest, or the Southwest, they would recieve little to no coverage at all. They would be like the Mountain West, or the WAC.
In the last few years, Miami was the only team theat was worth anything. Now they are gone. If I’m not mistaken BC and Syracuse are on the verge of taking a powder as well.
There is no doubt that OU was over ranked. But I don’t think that makes the Big-12 any less powerful.
Michigan was over rated, as was Pitt, and a few other teams that escape my mind at the moment.
But void of any real proof to my position, I just have an anti-East bias when it comes to the National game of Texas. You guys have hoops - be ahppy with that. Let the West have football. We’ve earned it.
That’s laughable rainjack. There’s no arguing from me that the Big East is weak right now. I’ve said it many times myself. That doesn’t defend your comment that the Big East is overhyped. Maybe you missed media’s propensity to gratuitously bash the Big East with reckless abandon and completely ignore bash-worthy material across the CFB world that would fit right in with the logic they employ to crucify the Big East in the first place.
Let’s not get into the pervasive bias against Eastern Football. Newsflash Texan, we invented the sport. Just because the majority of southern and western CFB fans have a myopic view of the sport doesn’t excuse you from being so ignorant about FB being played in the opposite coast.
TriGWU… Underated, seems as if LSU can fumble 5 times and be penalized for over 100 yards and still pull out a victory over Florida. Sucks to be you. Back to the drawing boards.
You have to take the good with the bad when it comes to press coverage. You guys get way more than you should - good season or no. I think the Big East has tried to market its way to being a major conference in the NCAA, they are at best a mid-major and their performance this year proves it.
I don’t think the southwest owning the national championship for the last several years is being myopic. It makes us better at football, regardless of where it was invented. What was the last team from the east to even be in the running for the championship? The only team I can come up with is WV.
I’m not even sure what place that has in this debate. FYI - basketball wasn’t invented on the East Coast. Even so, I can honestly admit that the East owns basketball.
The USC-Irish game has to be one of the best games ever played. I know a lot of you can cite other games, but this game lived up to the hype and then some.
who here said Tech was gonna beat Texas… haha… at least my Buffs hung in 10 points closer. See you in the top 25 this week. FUCK’EM UP FUCK’EM UP, GO C U!
God how i wish the USSR was still in existence! They wanted to field a american style football team so bad(from what i heard). If they had had the money and the other resources. We have great talent in this country and it’s being handled so so poorly. Oh well the rich get richer!

vince young for the heisman, the dude lights it up.
He’s got the speed and moves like the Brother’s Vick and he this last year the guy’s arm has improved an unbeleivable amount. I’ve read that he spent the majority of the summer working on his arm strength with the baseball coaches (smart move).
If he doesn’t get the Heisman, something is very wrong (besides, aren’t we all sick of USC being crowned #1?)
I wouldn’t be too surprised if the BCS computer ranks Texas closer to #1 than ever this week, especially after trashing a Top 10 team.
When the hell are my Buffs gonna be back in the top 25?

Dude. They beat the F-in Gators. Take a look in the almanac. Gators do the same f-in thing every year. Come out like National Champs and then they lose it. Gators will have a 4 loss season. And then in the end who did you beat? Some team that 3 other teams beat. Are you proud of fumbling 5 times? Because that basically tells me that the Gators LOST. Not that LSU won.

Damn I love football…
The USC-Irish game was a beautiful game. Depressing though. Leinart thinks he is a f-in hero. DAMN IT. KARMA WHERE ARE YOU!

Season is still up in the air. If Texas and USC end up in the NC I’ll be disappointed… the whole season would be a near waste.
Does anyone not agree that USC sqeaked out against a #9 team? How does that make them #1? I don’t get it.
I couldn’t agree with you more on this. The BCS is a joke anyway. I think that there will be a few undefeated teams that are going to get screwed over this year, just as Auburn was last year. I mean look at Georgia and Alabama. I think both of them will go undefeated and have to play one another in the SEC championship. So whoever wins and doesn’t get to go to the Rose Bowl will get screwed. Look at the SEC, there are so many talented teams: Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Florida, Auburn. I mean, it isn’t easy to go undefeated in this conference.
Would your description of the Big East as a mid major conference by any chance stem from the same logic that brought us your delusional opinions of the Big Ten conference?
BTW, nice game against the Longhorns. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

No - my opinion of the Big east as a mid-major conference stems from their lack of a traditional quality program. Now that the 'Canes are gone - they are even weaker. And let’s face it - Miami didn’t become a national power because of their uber-tough Big East schedule.
Truth be known - in most years, going undefeated in the Big-12 will land you squarely in the top 8 of the BCS rankings - I hardly think that you would get the same respect for beating the likes of a Cincinnati, or Southern Florida as you would in beating a Mizzou, or a Iowa State.
The Big East should stick to what they are really good at - hoops.
I have had a profound dislike of the Big-10 since the days of Woody and Bo. Kind of a Dallas-Washington type thing.
I find it odd that you are a blind Pitt fan and still have the gall to call me out about my Red Raiders.

Until SC loses they will still get the nod. That’s just the way it is. I hate it as bad as the next guy - but SC is light years better than VaTech. So regardless of who is #1 - as long as it is either Texas, SC, or Ga, I will endure their rankings.

Vince Young is DAMN good, but I still maintain my stance that he is slightly overrated. He may be one of the top 3 players in the nation (or he may prove to be the best), but he is not the second coming of Jesus Christ, as some ESPN analysts will have you believe. He’s got a great team around him, and the his O-line could not be much better.
I think Leinart will win the Heisman again, but I think Reggie Bush is better. Then again, Leinart and Bush have a hell of a supporting cast too.
I find it odd that you are a blind Pitt fan and still have the gall to call me out about my Red Raiders.
You are either a moron or you just like to toss out illogical comments for the hell of it. Tell me what I’ve said that constitutes calling me a blind fan?
Gall? Texas Tech is the laughing stock of the Big 12, not Baylor or Kansas. Baylor at least has good academics and is expected to suck at everything academic and Kansas has a bball program that TT can only dream of ever having.
Your fans are classless, unfoundedly arrogant and have a massive inferiority complex. Your FB team consistently feasts on some of the worst OOC schedules in all of D1-A (and D1-AA for that matter) and consistently gets wiped by legitimate opponents. Wow, you guys posted 8-win seasons w/ bowl appearences by beating mostly crap teams. Impressive…
