'Bama got hosed they should be ahead of Miami. The IRISH sould also be ahead of Penn State. Sorry to say but the the PAC-10 is weak aside from USC. But if you really want to get down to it USC should have a loss against The Irish, that is if the ref’s knew how to spot a ball or weren’t afraid to call a penalty against Bush for pushing Leinhart into the endzone. It’s the LongHorns year, they should roll over USC. Vince Young looks like a cross between Brett Farve and Donovan Mcnabb.
Once and for all…
Keep in mind I’m a Big-10 fan first and foremost.
You east coasters don’t get to see Pac-10 football, so who are you all to judge? Pac-10 football is airborne, fast paced, hard hitting, and pushing the envelope every game. USC is on top of the mountain for now, because they have had to recruit, plan, execute, and maintain over the best competition in the country with the best athletes.
There, I said it, and I’m a Big-10 guy by birth.
The Oregon/Cal game on Saturday had me on the edge of my chair the entire length of the contest. Watching USC play is like watching the NE Patriots. Without seeming too gay, it’s beautiful to watch.
Watching Miami vs. Va Tech was like watching purple and white rabbits trying to fuck each other rodeo style. The pomp and circumstance of Lane field is awesome, true, but niether of those coaches knew how to adjust the gameplan midstream. So Beemer leans on Vick and Marcus couldn’t get it done.
In the pac-10, if there is a stalemate you know something big is about to happen, those teams are riding with their toes on the edge so they have no problem getting extreme in their playcalling to have the momentum shift in their favor. And that, for the time being is what makes National Champions.
If I here one more comment about how USC is #1 because they don’t have to play anybody I’m going to barf. The ACC, Big 12, and SEC can wallow in their mediocrity until they find the athletes and coaches to take chances and break games open. Peel the fanfare from those leagues and all you have is chicken fried athletes with chicken fried game plans… Good ol’ boys like Spurrier, Fulmer, and Beemer are making your conferences lag in the National Championship race. They had their chances, and it’s passed them by. Mac Brown has lightning in a bottle with Vince Young, true, but take him out of a game plan and you have the same ol’ mushmouth football you always see coming out of Texas…
A whole lot of hootin’, but not much scootin’.
Wake up and smell the trophy, oh wait, you probably can’t because it’s out here on the left coast soakin’ up the sun, where it’s supposed to be.
End Rant.
GAINER
e-gain,
I don’t think anybody trashes the OFFENSE in the PAC-10, it’s the LACK of DEFENSE in the PAC-10. USC is a damn good team, but they still have yet to see a “stellar” defense.
I grew up near VT and had a few buds to play there (still a Tarheel fan, though). I hated to see them get mauled by Miami, but the whole game I was marveling at how Miami’s defense neutralized every weapon that the “Chokies” had. The defense shut down a pretty good VT offense.
I would love to see that type of D go up against an offense like USC. (but of course, I am a fan of defense).
I think you’re regional “bias” stems from the East Coasters being more D-minded and the West Coast more O-minded. It’s all in what you consider “beauty” on the field.
That being said, USC and Texas seems to be the inevitable trainwreck on course for the title game.

Being a PAC-10 fan myself, I pose this question. Are PAC-10 defenses truly so bad, or does the quick strike style create more opportunities for the opposing team? The simplistic and mostle boring style of football SEC, Big-12, and Big-10 (not all Big-10/12) play tends to produce a lower scoring game.
If you were to analyze the average T.O.P. for a top tier PAC-10 team vs a top tier SEC I think you would find your answer. Oregon, Cal, and UCLA are not “smash mouth” teams; whereas, LSU, Georgia, and Alabama are “smash mouth” teams.
Which is better? My opinion is neither. They are just different. One gives the appearance of amazing defense but slow boring offense. The other fast-paced offense with lackluster defense. There are problems with both. One lets people stay in games while the other can’t catch up if they needed to. Then there are teams like Texas and USC. These two teams can play however you want to play.
You want to punch them in the mouth, they have bigger fists. You want to drag race, they have fighter jets. This is, of course, just one simple man’s opinion.
Oh yeah, if USC wins out they beat Texas. Without Vinsanity Texas loses the fighter jets and I think USC can take him out of the game.
LSU over Bama… start the hating.
No hate. All love! Go Tigers!
SEC had some great games tonight. SC over FLA. Auburn over Ga.
Texas 52-0 at the freaking HALF.
Come on.
High school teams could probably compete in the big 12. Its a shame that Texas will probably get a title shot, but even if they do, it will do my heart good to see USC mop the floor with them.

FUCK BAMA!!! It felt good to see the Tigers kill their momentum on one final play. Just fucking awesome.
Bama was flying under the radar for a while. The Bama defense is no joke and has been keeping them going. Great game.

I agree. Bama’s offense just couldn’t pull their weight.

They really haven’t been all year after #4 broke his leg anyway…
I’d really hate to see Texas vs USC. Just because it has been that way since week 2… boring.
It would be a great game but… I’d hope the season would have more change of the top 2.
Miami must be kicking themselves for that loss in Tallahassee

I’d be willing to bet cash money that the BCS doesn’t hold the same opinion as you do. In fact I bet they are happy as can be that there seem to be only 2 contenders for the NC this year.
I’d like to be the Tums salesman in their offices if TU loses to the Aggies this week.

That’s the point that I was trying to make not better, but different). I agree with the fighter jet analogy wrt Texas without Vince.
I just hate how the BCS got “bailed out” once again by some of the recent losses.
I still maintain that I would like to see Miami at their best go up against USC at their best. Unfortunately, usually one of the teams doesn’t bring their A-game when there is a clash of the titans, anyway.
I would love to see A&M beat texas. I think I would cry.

I love the irony in this. The Gators were pulling for an Auburn upset over Georgia to go to the SEC title game. But the dumbfucks couldn’t beat the cocks! HA! Fucking Gators. They always manage to shoot themselves in the foot. But watch them now beat FSU. Just because. Fuckheads.
I’m going to become a USC fan and just be happy all year! LOL!
What really pisses me off if that LSU lost to Tennessee. FUCK that makes my blood boil.

I would too, but I’m not buying stock in Kleenex.
I’d count more on USC then Texas. But still, who would go ahead of them? Miami?
