fickle NFL fan–
you know not of what you speak.
But I will grant you success in one does not guarantee success in the other.
Wa-wa found the cupboard awful full when he started in Miami, and never made them better. The Bears fiasco goes wothout saying.
I will recant if proven wrong, but I stand by my assertion that the dude is not a good coach.
You aren’t seriously saying/comparing Johnson to Wa-wa. I mean, that would be ridiculous. Nat’l champs/super Bowl champs dynasty maker compared to ??? what.

No, I’m not comparing Wannstedt to Johnson. Just applying your logic to that “comparison” to show you how flawed it is. It’s way too early to procalim Wannstedt a failure at Pitt. It’s a completely different game in college and the examples of Carroll and Spurrier were used to highlight that.
I have a vested interest in Pitt and I’m objective enough to call shit how I see it. Pitt is clearly a bad team right now, that much is obvious. What I see are blown assignments and an inability to make a play (example, WR’s consistently dropping wide open, perfectly thrown passes). These are common issues when a completely new system is introduced to a team and is compounded by giving significant PT to young players that aren’t quite ready for the college game yet.
Give this program some time. This season is pretty much over, but I’m willing to bet they play like an 8-4 caliber team by year’s end and will be a significantly better team next season and years beyond…
Actually, and not to argue, you ass-umed it was my logic, when in fact it wasn’t. I flat out just don’t like the guy as a coach.
Spurrier and Carroll were never meant for NFL. Not enmough disipline. Wa-wa is not meant for college bal–in my opinion–and sucked in the NFL as well. My thinking was not crossover in nature.
Done with that
I wish you well though. I love my Badgers(could give 2 shits about the Pack) and know what it’s like to go through tough times. Your p[oints about young players and new systems are valid.

I’ll make the bet right now - the T-sippers won’t be in the Big-12 championship game. Tech will beat Texas. Mark it down.
Tech has some good offense, or so people might think.
Tech could barely muster up 30 points against Kansas and Texas defense is much better… their offense might not have the 700 yards per game avg right now… but Tech beating them is a long shot.
All I know is that there is a possibility this year for 3 or 4 teams to go undefeated, which could yet again make the BCS the laughing stock of the sports world… again.
Since we have had Leach as head coach, our offense has had the top offense in the nation. The last 3 qb’s we’ve had have al been seniors starting for the first time.
Tech has a winning record against the Longhorns since Leach come on board.
The only reason I am running my mouth about the Red Raiders is because it looks like they might actually have a defense this year.
Nebraska has a shitload of sacks this year - but who have they played? The Huskers pose no problem for Tech’s Offense. Besides - their offense is abysmal.
Tech has always had trouble putting points on the board against KU.
You doubters line up to throw your stones at me, I don’t care. But - when I am proven right, I get to gloat like like a fat woman at her own wedding.
The attached is all I know about Texas Tech Football…

Not much happening this weekend in CF.
UCLA vs. Cal is about it.
Maybe Texas vs. OU.
U.T.- Norman has won this for five straight years, or so. I think their run ends Saturday.
This will be the last game of the year that I will pull for the T-Sippers. I had to root for them against Ohio St. because - well - OSU is Big 10. Nothing good has ever come from a Big-10 school.

Tom Brady?
Ron Dane?
Chris Spielman?
Desmond Howard?
Just to name a few.
Ricky Williams? Dope smoker freak.
Jason White? Not even in the NFL
Major Applewhite? QB coach for freaking Syracuse.
C’mon RJ, Michigan gave your sippers the game of their life in the Rose last year. And yes, it still stings.

They all be came worth something AFTER they left the Big-10. Especially Brady.
And let’s get one thing straight. I hate the T-Sippers with every fiber of my being. Right up until they play U.T.Norman, or a Big 10 school - in which case I have to defer to the lesser of two evils and root for the Longhorns.

Actually, Ron Dayne was a worth much more in college than in the NFL. Hasn’t had much production at all in the NFL, although he did play in the Superbowl.
Look - I have my prejudices against the Big-10. They are not rational, nor are they impeachable. I am sure there many, many fine upstanding folks that have played sports at those schools.
But they’re still Big-10 schools, which means that everyone that graces their halls are devil spawn.

I understand. I think most true sports fans have their own irrational prejudices. You’re supposed to. I was just pointing out that Ron Dayne was the opposite of Brady; great in college, below average in the NFL(at least so far).
…we gotta beat UNC in at least one sport this year. I thought for sure it would be football. Thank God there are “best of __” series in baseball. OH, well. Go to hell Carolina.

You guys didn’t see Dane (currently with the Broncos) play against the Chargers, he freaking dominated. He’s been out of college for a while and still in the league, and still healthy. I’d call that a success.
RJ, what’s the deal with the Big 10? Is it the gambling thing that came out of Northwestern a few years ago?

I did see Dayne with the Broncos, and he had a very good preseason and has had one good regular seaon game, single-handedly setting up the winning field goal. But he is still number 2 on the depth charts behind Mike Anderson(who I also like from his days as a Marine playing ball at Camp Pendleton).
Believe me, I’m a huge Ron Dayne fan, and I was happy when he went to Denver to hopefully be another rushing success story they seem to produce every year. But he can’t do it being a backup.
