Pledge of Allegiance Tour, 2001: Mudvayne, System of a Down, Rammstein, Slipknot
Introduced me to Mudvayne, who I love, and Rammstein put on the best show I’ve ever seen.
When The Mars Volta opened up for A Perfect Circle.
The Mars Volta has the BEST live performance I’ve ever fucking seen. They were crazy energetic.
My friend caught a coffee cup that the lead singer through into the crowd and later got it autographed.
A Perfect Circle was definitely nothing to scoff at, though. Especially when they played “Judith.”
As Maynard said : " Viva la bombshelter".

Emperor and Witchery in Cleveland.
Pure evil.
Or High on Fire at the High-Five in Columbus, OH or the Union in AThens, OH…louder than loud.
Alter bridge, Evanescence, and Seether were also good live, just not as fun as the others.

What tour was this? When I saw them, Mini KISS and Burning Brides opened. Burning Brides sucked, and Mini KISS were a bunch of midgets dressed like kiss and played their songs. Their guitars were bigger then them, I swear on that. Then APC came out and I nearly soiled myself.
Hey, did he do the whole:
"We’ve been trying an experiment this tour, and we have been getting very positive results thus far… Im going to ask you all to shout at the top of your lungs as hard as you can…
SHIT FUCK."
???
It’s not metal but rock
Fitzgerald Theater Apr 15, 2005
Steve Vai
He is a God

My first concert was ST, same year 92. Fucking insane. The best gotta be when Slayer played at Ozzfest 5-6 years ago.
The place went nuts.
Kiss on their first reunion/make up tour in 1997. It was like being in a time machine and I was 7 years old again.

Must have been the same tour, man, 'cause I distinctly remember him saying that also.
Mars Volta rocked my socks off.

Just saw System of a Down at the Long Beach Arena friday night. Fucking intense. Mars Volta opened (what’s with the lead singers fro?). They’d be a lot cooler if it was the 70’s. Metallica Summer Sanitarium (July 4, 2000) was pretty bad ass too.
Judas Priest 1988.
Halford (and back stage 2003)
Judas Priest 2005.
Iron Maiden 1988
Iron Maiden 2000.
Metallica 1988
Metallica 2004.
I graduated high school in 1988. Having that perspective on the bands was amazing.

For me:
Dream Theater - August 30, 2000 Roseland Ballroom, New York (Released as the Live Scenes From New York DVD/CD)
Pantera, Soulfly, Morbid Angel - Hammerstein Ballroom, New York (3 straight shows in March of 2001 - best pits ever!)
Pantera, Slayer, Morbid Angel - June 21, 2001 Nassau Coliseum, New York - (Pantera, Slayer and Morbid Angel all on one show…holy damn…)
Actually, Dream Theatre is about to play a concert here in Tucson. I thought about checking out the show since they have one of the greatest drummers to ever walk the earth (at least, they used to). I haven’t followed the band so he might not be pounding the skins anymore.
Guess who’s friends with his cousin. (-: I was supposed to meet him in 2004, but it didn’t happen. I still have the vip pass.
(fyi: I think one of their biggest pet peeves is when people spell their name with “re” and not “er.” I could be wrong though.)[/quote]
Mike Portnoy is still their drummer.
I just caught them in Dallas on the Gigantour lineup. Megadeth, Dream Theater, symphony x, some other crap…it was amazing! Definatly my best concert ever, though I had seen Dream Theater before.
They had a great encore in Dallas, too. They started Pantera’s “Cemetary Gates” but then Allen from Symphony X came out for the first chorus. I’ve been saying for years that Id rather see him as Dream Theater’s singer. Then Dave Mustain came out and did the solo! It was amazing.
Iron Maiden with guest G’n’R in 88
Metallica with guest The Cult in 89
Judas Priest with Helloween in 90
Ministry with Sepultura back in ???
Motley Crue’s “Girls Girls Girls” or whatever back in like '87 or so was good.
Disturbed. Sydney Metro. Their first concert in AUS… very small, very dedicated crowd, met the band…
Tool in wollongong. That rocked too… Very cool…
Slayer and Nuclear Assault at The Seria Mosque for the Seasons In The Abyss Tour. Nucyaler Assault sucked but Slayer absolutely killed. There were so many people tearing each other up it looked like the one Hell scene from Constantine.
Pantera, Static-X, Slayer concert, not bad for my first one! I’d also say Ozzfest but the venue sucks for a metal concert here(DTE).

I went to the one in Vegas, Pantera, Slayer, and Morbid Angel. The only thing was metal scene in Vegas sucks.

Portnoy, Petrucci, and Myung are Dream Theater. They’ve been together and Mike’s been the drummer since 1986, way before they called themselves Dream Theater. I jump at the chance to see them anytime they’re in town. If anything they’ve only gotten better and more technically proficient as time has past. The one show they played in NYC that I didn’t go to since I started listening to them happened to be the show where they played Metallica’s Master of Puppets album in its entirety. Always have been and always will be amazing showmen. I will be at Jones Beach for them on the 23rd.
