Nice one there.
PS. Napoleon did not die in battle, so its a trick question.

It’s not even a trick question but an incorrectly worded question.
@Jewbacca and I were just musing about what it would take to actually “fix” Syria. With Assad back at the sticks with tons of Russian munitions and soldiers at their disposal, as well as Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies propping different regions, the only way to put an end to that cluster-fuck is full scale invasion with Joint US and Israeli forces.
Back in 2011 when the infamous “Red Line” to no where was installed, that would have been the time to do it. Assad was barely hanging on and no Russians.
We could have bulldozed Syria and ISIS in one fell swoop.
First, I know I was the only one supporting that option in a war-weary nation and wholy unpopular. My only claim was that if one is actually serious about taking care of Syria, then full scale invasion is the only way. No amount of detente, or money or sanctions is going to make that shit hole any better. I just found I had an ally in that idea with Jewbacca.
So we’re not really proposing a real war, just ‘what if’ing’ a bit.
I think the thesaurus betrayed the WaPo. Besides, I don’t think ‘austere’ is a synonym to a grotesquely murderous, psychotic piece of shit.
I don’t think there is a way, short of a massive invasion and a dedicated, generation-long, occupation with a complete removal and destruction of all institutions.
That’s obviously never going to happen.
Really, the only practical solution is to isolate the contagion as best as possible. Keeping the Iranians out of Syria would be helpful, tactically, but that’s just the currently-most-horrid part of Syria. It would still have plenty of problems without Iran.
Agree, @Jewbacca.
The Kurds are history. Can we “count” on the Turks to help us do that? Seems unlikely.
Maybe a tenuous “friendship” with Putin is the only way to go?
What a clusterfuck the Middle East is…
No of course not as Erdogan plans to keep a sunni jihadi militia in Northern Syria for the foreseeable future. They may be called JaT, AQ or ISIS but they aren’t going anywhere. There’s over 30 million Kurds and Erdogan wants to be remembered as the Turkish Sultan that “solved” the Turkish problem.
Putin will ask for ridiculous concessions everywhere else in exchange for not escalating Syria, something that Israel will soon discover to their detriment.
It’s a dream scenario for Putin (and Erdogan), having a conflict that can they can control and flare up at will. Erdogan already said that.
I saw where Putin just had a face-to-face meeting with Erdogan.
Looks like plans are on the way.
Plans for a pipeline through all the countries, Syria, Turkey Russia,.
I think you didn’t read how super easy the PT test is. The entire point of the post is that the test is such a joke, even an old guy can pass it easily.
Talking about training feats has no place on an august political forum such as this.
Congratulations.
I don’t want to brag but I’m potty trained and it only took me until senior year.
of…college??
I read yesterday that Christian militias are ramping up to fight the Turkish invasion.
Place is a cauldron of death.
I wish because that would mean I went to college.
They have a strange relationship. Turkey shot down a Russian plane that crossed their airspace. Russia was pissed and saber rattling at Turkey. Now they seem besties.
What that tells me is that there is a level of cooperation that Russia will accept, even if you take hostile military action against them.
They may seem besties but both Russia and Turkey are waiting for the right moment to stab each other in the back. Think of it as a temporary marriage of convenience.
I would agree with that.
Yeah.
It appears so.
