Can you provide any suggestions on two issues I’m having when benching with a swissbar? Pretty sure these are holding back a lot of progress but I’ve never been a strong bencher.
At the bottom of the eccentric portion, my hands come toward me slightly rather than staying directly over my elbows… it almost turns it into an unintentional triceps extension (as an exaggerated way of describing what’s happening). I’m guessing this is partly due to my starting grip, which is usually high up on the handle so my index fingers are right up against the bar because it felt more balanced and stable there when using fatgrips.
When I press the bar back up it doesn’t want to go in a slight arc to finish above my face/eyes like most technique guidance I’ve seen. It naturally just goes pretty straight up. Is that a big deal?
Make sure you are twisting your wrists to engage your lats, triceps and forearm completely. The swiss bar is a hard bar to hold onto for me and gives me issues, really cranking my wrists down helps.

Thanks I will try that this morning, I always try to squeeze the shit out of the bar and get my upper back real tight but not by twisting my wrists. I guess it is kind of like screwing your feet into the ground when squatting.
