Good luck at both your meets, I suspect both of you will do great as usual.
I have a friend who got kicked out of a couple of bars for being a dickhead but this sounds worse.

Good luck at your meet Snap!

If I fly her out will you guys hug? Maybe spot each other on some bent rows? Let me know and I’ll pass the hat to collect the airfare!
You’re always so, so generous.

Benching raw doesn’t affect it but pull a shirt on and it’s a mess.
Is it the weight? Or do you have a different groove/technique for raw/geared?

I believe your meet is livestreamed. So I can have it playing in the background at work. I will cheer for you, O.
It’s the tightness of the sleeve around the elbow. It’s the same thing if I grab around my own upper arm with my other hand and apply pressure. It’s pressure on a nerve. No shirt is no pressure.

I’ve decided to open pretty light on squat. I’m not sure if I can get more than one bench in though.

I had a similar problem with my custom shirt. Cuff was just too tight. You can stretch it by threading the sleeve opening onto a gym bar and putting all your weight into pulling it. Like hold onto the cuff and just lean back with all your weight. I found this worked for me. Don’t know if you’ve tried something similar?

No harm opening light. You can always add weight.

Wondered if you ever broke in your Velocity? I have worked with mine and just don’t like it. So it’s back to the old Centurion that I bought secondhand some years ago.

My issue isn’t really with the shirt except that the shirt aggravates the issue if that makes any sense. I’ve been competing in this shirt for a couple of years and have already stretched the sleeves with a rum bottle. It’s just a weird nerve thing that’s cropped up and is exacerbated by my shirt. I contemplated going back to an old shirt but I imagine I’d have the same issue and haven’t used an old one in a while.

The velocity wasn’t tough to break in for me. It doesn’t have the stiffness in the hips that I like. It has too much give. The stiffness of the centurion gives me more pop off the floor. It’s funny how we develop our favourites that we don’t like to stray too far from.

It does. Probably will just take time outta the shirt to return to normal.

It’s not that mine isn’t broken in. It’s that I don’t feel like I get anything out of it. Like nothing. And I can’t figure out why. Since I pull conventional, I don’t get much anyway.

Are you hoping for a spot on the world team, O?

All I have to do is total to get on the Worlds team. In fact, I could probably get on even if I didn’t. However, I don’t think we have the cash for that this year.

Snap!!! How’d the meet go???!!!

I hope it was good!!

Thanks for remembering me, Brute.

I wasn’t going to write up a meet report. But here goes nothing.

Drove almost two hours through a winter storm to get to the venue. Arrived at 8:45 am. Meet organizer was short on help and refs. So I did women’s weigh-ins even though I was competing. Weighed in myself at 111.6. Squat warmups went great. I felt really strong.

Meet was delayed. Lifting didn’t start until 11:35 am. Opened at 192.5 lb. And I did something I’ve never done before: a full GM in the hole. Somehow I managed to round my lower back and push the weight up in corkscrew fashion. Totally shot my lower back and my confidence. Three whites. My coach jumped me up to 209.5. Tried twice but couldn’t hit it. It was all in the head, I know.

I elected to bench raw to allow my coach to help another lifter who needed a qualifying total for nationals. Went 3/3 in bench with very low weights.

By the time DL came around, it was past 7 pm. I was trashed and still nursing disappointment. Opened my DL VERY low. Lowest ever. 220 lb. Easy. Went to 231.5. Easy. Went to 248. Missed it. Shouldn’t have. Lifting ended at 9:20 pm. I left the venue at about 10 pm.

I cried on the way home and felt much better for it. Awoke the next day excited to start a new training cycle and set new goals. I also decided it’s time to find a new gym. My current gym recently got a facelift. All the lifting equipment is now jammed together to make space for Crossfit training. In addition, the benches are too low – not regulation height. And I’m done DLing with multi-sided plates. I actually found a wonderful garage gym, complete with round Eleiko kilo plates, Eleiko bars, bands, chains, multiple cages, a monolift (!), regulation height Elite Fts benches, a prowler, and tons of bar variations.

I think I’m going to make the switch.

Cheers.

OH MY GOD that is a LONG meet! I would be surprised if others didn’t have the same kinda issues being tired come dl time! The gm thing…well I can relate, but it would for sure be a bummer and a shock for you who usually has really crisp form. And yes, 3 white lights for gm form… I know how that is too! Mixed feelings?!I hope your backs feeling decent now though?

Now that I think of it, it was a turbo snow storm that day! ARGH! Its sounds totally exhausting from start to finish!!..more so then usual meets!

However!! New gym news is wonderful!! Hello no hex plates!!! I’m so glad you can start afresh in a fresh gym too! You have lots of new toys :)!

oh yea, yay for a monolift, lol

shake it off, long meets are hell…be glad nothing got hurt.

Oh, I am glad. And feeling great moving forward.

Here’s one of my squat fails from the meet. You can see a TOTAL lack of confidence on my part with a weight that I easily banged up several times in the last month.

Squatted today for the first time since my meet. Felt great again.

I’m making some changes, though. Trying to move the bar down on my back and my grip out a little to save my shoulder. It’s going to be a challenging transition for me. But if I can make it work, I think I’ll be able to ultimately move more weight.

Still struggling with what programming to move forward with for squat/DL.

Joined a new gym. Am so excited. It’s a garage gym. Has everything.

I like these kinds of changes. They really energize and motivate me.

…We already talked about your meet, that sure was a looong day!

I am excited for you (new gym) Cant wait to hear about the “toys” thsy have. Just having the DL
plates (round) will be huge!

Moving forward with a great attitude

It’s hard to hear but this was a great learning experience. I’ve competed in the forever long meets and that sucks. It saps your strength. On the squat fails, forget about it. You know you can do it so for the next meet rebuild and power up, hell be the bionic girl and slap that bitch weight around like its nothing. I’m sure the long drive and the stress involved threw you for a loop. Zen mind that muther and conquer. Competing is a thrill and the journey to giving our all is the triumph. It’s always you against you and one way or another you can always win.

What does not kill us, only makes us stronger. Use your experience as motivation to nail it next time out.

Good job on the long meet.

A new gym with loads of toys? Awesome! Does trainer get to come along?

Can’t think of much to say…just wanted to keep you on the first page.

So “Hi”
