seems like you could pull your ass down farther for a more sumo style pull, rather than a straight legged sumo pull.
i like your backyard. and your ass.
Im also disappointed you wont be logging so much anymore. You’re in charge of finding me a new source of entertainment.
I actually shouldn’t be pulling it at all. The technique for tire flipping is to drive your chest in and push and drive it up with your chest. That tire is so small and dense, I couldn’t get my chest down to it. Really awkward. The other tire I can do that with when I’m strong enough to flip it.

ohh. the first part of the flip looks like it’s a deadlift type movement. it does look like lots and lots of fun.
I only did it so I’d have an excuse to stick my ass in the air
There is, seriously, a real technique to tire flipping. You drive your chest into the tire pushing in forward. The forward motion forces the front down and the back up. You use your chest to continue pushing through until you can get a knee under it. It’s easy enough to deadlift at lighter weights but really tough when it gets heavier and you risk tearing a bicep. Because that tire is so small, I can’t get low enough with my chest. It’s still a hell of a workout for the entire body.
The tires were provided by my new tenant; a 23 year old professional mma guy with a super cute dog.
The next thing I’m trying with them is banging on them with a sledge hammer. That’s supposed to be a killer shoulder builder. Plus it just sounds totally bad ass.
This is all part of my recovery from grinding myself down on my last training cycle.
On Sunday, I went to a flea market and picked up an 8lb sledge hammer. After drinking some beer and carbing up appropriately, I decided to try it out. I’m in the corner of Frank’s yard whacking away. I ended up doing 40 whacks/side and it will be a great conditioning workout. The other size was a 12 lb but that would have been too heavy for conditioning.

“Frank, whats with the huge fuckin hole in your yard?”
“oh. thats where my powerlifter girlfriend beats the shit out of it with a sledgehammer.”
“so does she have like, a record, or what?”
I have a record. It’s vinyl and has the Partridge Families greatest hits.
Happily for me, Frank’s also a power lifter so he’s been known to not only encourage my weird shit and commit it to video but do weird shit of his own.
OB_s once again rocking the booty shorts.
The sledge is fun as hell.
I like the sledge too, I have some sand bag thing wrapped in burlap that I hit.
Wrapped up the cressey program with a nice squat and no bench progress.
That’s like lifting with straps or using the pad on the squat bar.
My sister already gave me shit for it. I tried it on the tire last night and I run more risk of being whacked in the face. Maybe I’ll put my hard hat on.

Or a hockey helmet with full face cage. Combined with the booty shorts I think it would be a good look. Maybe some flip-flops to round it out.
