Survivorman or Man vs Wild

Ok. I get into this discussion all the time at work. Which survivor show is better, Man vs Wild or Survivorman. Both shows are about guys who go into the wilderness for several days and show techniques on how to survive.

Both have done extremely cold areas and extremely hot areas. Both Les (Survivorman) and Bear (Man vs Wild) eat some nasty looking stuff.

I argue that Bear is very dramatic and hypes the situation a little too much sometimes. Bear is crazy as hell though. The guy will climb anything without proper climbing gear.

Les is a little more realistic but kind of full of himself. Les usually eats the stuff that I’d probably eat (if I knew what I was doing) instead of gigantic insects like Bear.

Anyway, I watch both of them because you never know. Thoughts?

Seeing as he has a camera crew with him, he can afford to take alot of chances that Les Stroud wouldn’t. If he hurts himself, there’s someone there to either help him or get help for him. I view Stroud’s approach as way more hardcore and therefore way more awesome.

Les is 10 million times the man Bear is.

Survivorman is a much much better show. Les it out there truly by him self. Bear has a whole crew with him the entire time. Bear even uses safety equipment.

Bear is ex-SAS, and passed the FFL training course. Les Stroud taught my cousin an outdoor survival course a few years ago, you do the math.

Survivorman has become one of my favorite shows of all time.

Les does it all himself in the field. He often admits that running the cameras is a huge detriment to his immediate situation and expends lots of (needed) energy just getting the shots.

Lots of great info on that show.

Brilliant. And I wasn’t being sarcastic either.

I agree completely. He has to walk the same distances twice, once to get the shot, then back for the camera, then back to the spot he was going to. Survivorman is definitely one of my favorite shows, I can miss Man vs Wild but I like watching both

Hahahaha, that’s awesome!

It even sais that bear is aided in some situations he cant handle. Ive seen no such warning on Survivorman.

Bear is a badass dude, I think his show is a little more dramatic and fun than survivorman. That being said I just like it cause he jumps out of helicopters and shit.

oh and the one where he pissed on the cloth and then wrapped it around his head.

Both are good shows but my vote goes to Man vs. Wild

Craig vs. Wild!

Bear is better no doubt. He never complains at all, and puts himself in very unsafe conditions, granted he has a crew around him but all Les seems to do to is take time up is complain…OH ITS SO HARD…NO SHIT the title is called SURVIVORMAN not takeiteasyandgohomeman.

Half the battle while trying to survive is keeping a upbeat state of mind and he fails miserably at that. And can he stop it with the harmonica already.

Also bear is a fake (or at least has ALOT of help including hotels etc.)

HaHA! I thought he executed by the State of Nevada.

Bear is a wanker. I prefer Les’ show.

My thinking is that even though Bear has a crew, he is the one still jumping into frozen lakes… In one episode he used a vine as a rope and started down a waterfall.

The rope broke and he fell. The crew can’t do shit in that situation. Also, one time he crossed over a river on a fallen tree that was spanning to both sides. It was slippery and shitty looking. He went for it, if he fell he was dead, or hurt badly.

The crew can’t do anything there either. So sure, he can take bigger risks because of the crew, but I’m not going to jump off my roof just because my fiends are there watching.

Eaxctly, there was a big uproar about this. On one show he was supposed to spend the night in the wild obviously and instead stayed at a hotel.

There is also another episode( which I saw and though BULLSHIT!) where he “happened” across a wild horse, tamed it, and rode it to safety lol ya right. Turns out they rented it from a local rancher. GAY.

I admit I like watching Man vs Wild more just b/c the camera crew can capture more cool shots of Bear in action and the guy makes the show entertaining. However I just can’t get over him faking some stuff. Les stroud is a pimp.

LOL!!

I like Bear’s show better, maybe it’s the accent or the fact that he has climbed Mt. Everest before.
