the thread title pretty well sums up the question… I think I read somewhere creatine makes it harder to overtrain. Is this true?
Creatine will help you recover slightly faster between workouts.
Most folks never really get to the level of overtraining however.
Creatine might help, but I think products like BCAA, Surge, and even BETA-7 would be better. At least that’s my experience.
I would think that creatine would be more likely to actually encourage overtraining. Since it enhances your ability to recharge the chemical systems that allows muscles to do work it would be easier to push yourself past your limits. I can’t think of any way it would somehow protect you.
A good pre/peri/post workout drink like Surge is your best defense. I would add in BCAAs taken throughout the day next. Then maybe ZMA to elevate hormonal levels and promote restful sleep.
Just my $.02
Overtraining is brought on by a whole bunch of things. Diet, routine, sleep, water intake, etc…
If you’re diet is clean, and getting enough calories and you’re just looking to push it a little harder in the gym, Surge, BCAA’s, and Power Drive (for your CNS) would be a good start.
After that, I’d suggest higher levels of protein.
I’ve heard glutamine works pretty well, too. Never tried it though. I’d rather spend my money on more food.

Nice thought, but it’s not true unless you want to say the following.
“There is no overtraining, only undereating and under-resting.”

I concur fully. I use all mentioned and feel my recovery and gains are running pretty strong.

Steroids.
Jks. I dunno, doesnt creatine allow you to work longer/harder, but not in a steroid-ish way?
I think many bodybuilding supplements may allow your muscles to work harder, but they don’t actually protect your neurological system from overtraining. The number one thing you should be trying to protect is your adrenal glands. I can’t see how BCAA’s or Surge would have a significant effect on their recovery. As far as Biotest supplements go, Power Drive would be the one to go with. I also am a firm believer in high doses of vitamin C.

Exactly. Overtraining is not overworking your muscles. Anything that allows you to train longer, harder and with more frequency can actually contribute to overtraining by allowing you to overwork your CNS.
