…because the administration and McCain don’t. I say that because they oppose the update to the GI Bill. Read here http://www.iavaaction.org to find out more and see if your “representatives” support the new bill. My “Representative” (Musgrave, Northern Colorado) doesn’t.
This topic shouldn’t be political, it should be common sense…Take care of the heros that risk the ultimate sacrifice day in and day out PERIOD.
He’s the only one that seem to give two shits about the safety and well-being of the troops.[/quote]
I will, if you will. There went that idea. You have no vote so STFU you panderer…JK Lixy Poo, by the way I have missed you lately, you and Osama must be cooking up a plot for the summer.

Of all the Americans I know who oppose the war on Iraq, there isn’t a single one who wouldn’t pick up a rifle if the US was in danger. Just not the made-up fraudulent intelligence kind, where bombing people halfway across the world and building bases is the name of the game.

LOL!!
Lixy owned yet again!
Onto the subject, my question is: Why can’t the GI Bill improvements be retroactive to include those who’ve already been there and have used their benefits? I served in iraq in 2004, and i basically starved and scrapped my way through 3 years of college when I got home. Yeah I graduated, but I’ve still got some time left and 12 months of benefits left. It sure would be nice if those of us that have used already would be compensated for it.

You did. It’s called a paycheck.

Okay, what I meant was that those of us that didn’t have the full amount at the time we were using our GI BILL would be retroactively paid for it. Kinda unfair if I had to starve and scrap through college, when there’s a very real possibility that veterans beginning college in a few years get to go for free, don’t you think? Especially if we served in the same war, IMO

Totally unfair, but do you want to force those hardships and handicaps on your fellow soldiers, or would you rather they be treated like you SHOULD have been, not how you were.

How would I be forcing a hardship/handicap on my fellow soldiers? The money for improved GI BILL benefits would come from John and Jane Q Taxpayer’s checkbooks, where it should come from. Not from fellow soldier’s wallets.

Huh?! You only paid $100 per month into it. How much compensation do you think is fair? You still got paid more than you paid in.
BTW, I used the GI bill to finish school too. I had to take out loans of over 30K for undergrad.
Just because we wore a uniform does not entitle us to a piece of pie. It’s not like we were unpaid volunteers forced into service.
