I have very high cholesterol (around 300). I was on lipitor but stopped taking it. I don’t want to be on medication at the age of 28. I heard that Red Rice Yeast was very good for my problem! Anyone else know anything about this stuff?
Also there is a lot of mention of antioxadents in articles. I was wondering what you all thought about Alpha Lipoic Acid and CoQ-10.
I do know that CoQ-10 should be taken if on Cholesterol medicines even the Red Rice Yeast that I,m currently trying!

RYR burns the antioxidents fast, so supplement C0Q-10 with it.
Fish Oil and Policosanol will also help.

I think cholesterol medication is one of the biggest scams ever.
Pm me Ex.
Red yeast rice is a natural plant statin. It works just as well as lipitor,or any of the other statin drugs, without the side effects of muscle pain, short term memory loss, and liver damage. Dosage is 600-1200 mgs. a day. You need to take at least 60mgs. of coq10 also. A good EFA supp. like Flameout will bring up your LDL. Hope this helps. peace
I hear lecithin can reduce the level of bad cholesterol in your blood.
However something that’s been proven time and again is that a diet of low carbohydrate intake lowers cholesterol and blood pressure in a matter of weeks.
Niacin.

How’s your diet? High in carbs? If so, I see a mostly protein and fat diet in your future.

Red Yeast Rice is Mevinolin or Lovastatin sold under the trademark of Mevacor by Merk.
It has exactly the same side effects that other statins have (realizing that people on one statin have side effects and when switching to another they don’t sometimes).
HMG-CoA reducatase inhibition is perhaps the single most effective method of reducing blood cholesterol, all other tested methodes tend to have way crappier results. Therefore any supp you would take that would be significantly effective tends to work through that mechanism.
Niacin works well, but the itchiness is a real bitch and you can’t take as much of the long-action one and if I remember correctly, the long-action one as more problems with toxicity. (An aspirine half an hour before works in alleviating the itchiness, but it just ends up being a bitch for compliance).
Also, niacin does tend to elevate blood glucose, at least it did mine even with a carb-controlled diet.
One day, somebody will have to explain to me at what age it is ‘‘ok’’ to start taking a long term medication…
Anyway, good luck

I only had the itchiness problems when I ate peppers. Weird. Anyway, now I use the no-flush (itchiness) kind.
I have read Miracle Greens and Greens Plus have had a very positive effect on lowering cholesterol in people who had trouble doing it with prescription drugs.

The man-made NON disease of hypercholesterolemia.
Don’t be fooled by this scam. The Cholesterol Theory was incorrect from the start as pertains to human beings. The Cholesterol Theory never passed the basic scientific tests that every hypothesis needs to.
It is all explained in great detail in “The Great Cholesterol Con”. This book is DOCUMENTED PROOF of scam that is the Cholesterol Theory. In it contains every single CLINICAL Dietary Intervention Trial ever done to date, all 18 , and they are printed out , and you see the results right in front of you.
Keep a CLOSE eye on BLOOD SUGAR., homocysteine.and stress. These are the things that damage the arteries and lead to inflamation.
Garlic, Red Yeast Rice, Fish oil, Co Q-10, Mangosteen.
The size of your lipids is more important that the amount.
I just want to thank everyone who’s responded, I really appreciate all the advice! I’ve learned more from this thread than I have since I found out I had bad cholesterol!! Thanks again!
Vitamin C, CoQ-10, Fish Oil, and Michael’s Cholesterol Metabolism Factors, these 4 products will take care of you pretty well.

Yeah, niacin really helped me. Just make sure to get the “no flush” kind. The hot flashes are not fun! I never get them with the no flush.
