Super Bowl Half Time Gayness

Foo Fighters is a pretty good band in this era of crap music.

Some of the people posting here have very strange taste.

Because I’d rather hear an unquestionable musical genius and accclaimed showman at the Super Bowl Halftime Show than what you described above?
I had no problem with Prince. He is more appropriate for a halftime show that appeals to all ages. That doesn’t diminish the Foo Fighters at all. They are a good band.

You guys are all closet homosexuals!

What does “live to track” mean? They play some previously taped music? Then it is not live.

As for a band I would like. I don’t know anything that is not completely old and out dated. How about Linkin Park, Nickleback, Nas, LL Cool J, Jay Z. Fuck man anyone other than a 50 year old muscians. But please no Timberlake…

Jesus Christ you are a little faggot. Linkin Park? A nerdy white rapper, some screaming little shit and overproduced records? Nickelback? The band who’s every song sounds exactly the same? Both of those bands are filled with millionaires and people that haven’t had to deal with the angst of life in 10+ years. LL Cool J? So you can look at his abs and jack yourself off in the middle of your living room?

As for Nas and Jay Z, and “your crew”, thanks for keeping it real- I know when I need to get the pulse of the street I turn to a white guy who skis and lives in Massachusetts.

Nickelback? Seriously? You should be euthanized.

LMAO…

Dweez-man, remind me to never, ever debate you about anything. EVER.

yeah man he is actually pissed. Think he is taking this personally.

How about a formal apology…

I’m sorry I made fun of Prince and his shitty ass half time show.

I would post on here more if I had the time. I wonder how our friend GERRY is doing.

You are not allowed to make fun of anyone elses music taste ever again. Ever. For the rest of your life. This is a royal decree. You call the Rolling Stones, Prince and U2 shit? I can understand the dislike for modern Rolling Stones work, I can understand the dislike for the majority of U2s work, I can understand if the song Raspberry Beret confused you because Prince must have been pretty high when he made that shit.

But for you to respond with “who they should have had” with fucking Nickelback and Linkin Park holy shit what the fuck is wrong with you. Nickelback songs LITERALLY SOUND THE FUCKING SAME thewebshite.net and Linkin Park is just… I don’t even know. I guess Hybrid Theory was an original sound, but anything past that is drivel to the max. The definition of overproduced angst garbage.

Honestly, you and Saddam should have been executed together.

I thought it was pretty bad, but I will tell anyone who will listen the Prince is one of the most underrated guitarists out there. When you get back to some of his old stuff, it is much more guitar oriented. But, they could have done a lot worse than Prince.

That said, SB halftime shows are all hype and noise - more fireworks than good music. I would much rather see some of the top college marching bands do their thing for the halftime entertainment.
Word. I forget the exact interview, but I remember Eric Clapton saying that he’s learned more from Prince than anyone other musician he’s ever played with, including Jimi and all the greats.

while I have nothing against prince, (just never really got into his music) I have a better idea for a halftime show that would kick ass…three words…Blue man group!!

some of the stuff they come up with is amazing

a link for those of you who may not know who they are… original is not an original enough word to describe them

Agree 100%. Blue Man Group covering Thunderstruck…

If it’s not your taste in music than fine I can accept your dislike of it BUT I have to say that was one of THE best Halftime performance since Janet Jacksons right tit made an appearance. He sung just a small slice of his hits and topped it off with Purple Rain in the middle of that rain storm, that had the whole stadium rocking & singing along. Oh you also have to give him his props for his excellent guitar skills.

Prince may be a little low on the Testosterone but he has boned much fine hollywood ass in his career. Carmen Electra, Kim Bassinger, Vanity, Appolonia, Kirsty Alley (when she was hot), Nola Gaye (Marvin Gaye’s daughter) Mayte. So just hold you stupid comments to yourself because I am sure the catalog of the women you have slayed is no where close to this “Gayness”

Dumb ass.

2 plastic surgeries away from becoming michael jackson

Prince = Enigmatic musical genius who has screwed women most guys only dream about

Michael Jackson = Sexually confused pop star (who many also consider a musical genius) in a static childlike mental state

The two are not the same. Any musician that can stick around as long as he has and still sell records like he has deserves respect, not ridicule, especially after playing a guitar the way he did during the half time show.

We understand that you may be just beneath the age to have actually heard many of hits playing on the radio as a kid, but that doesn’t erase his significance just because you hadn’t learned to talk yet.

You still haven’t answered who you would have liked to see do a half time show.

I am truly interested.
Why is it that people idolize a celebrity just because he’s “pulled tons of hot ass?” Seriously explain it to me…

that marching band was some of the best cg i’ve ever seen.

I respect celebrities for doing what they claim to specialize in well. I don’t care about an artist’s sexuality if they make good music. I don’t care about an actor’s political stance if they make good movies. The OP titled a thread about how “gay” the performance was. Considering THAT, noting who the artist has had relationships with becomes completely in line with the original post.

I know, that may be hard for you to follow, but maybe if you sat closer to the computer screen…

Personally, I’d like to see George Clinton do a halftime show, but he’s 65 now … As between (1)a droopy pants, backward hat, wearing suburban kid, and (2) a 50 year old guy with much more disposable income, who do you think the network suits are more interested in entertaining?

Whoa, did Clapton really say that? That’s astounding to me. I totally agree that Prince can play. In fact, I told my son, who’s learning guitar, to watch the halftime show, just to see Prince play. But Clapton learned more from him than Hendrix? Wow. That is high praise indeed.

The original poster has a thread of an argument in the fact that most great bands of yesterday are doing nothing for their legacy by hanging around.

Last year, the sight of 90-year-old Mick Jagger dancing around in his half t-shirt with his triceps jiggling to the beat prevented me from enjoying my copies of Let it Bleed, Exile and Sticky Fingers for months.

The Aerosmith who made Rocks would puke at the band today. Even McCartney, who’s still very talented, is a shell of his former self. All I can envision when I see him up there by himself is the Beatles playing on that rooftop.

Maybe I’m getting old and bitter at 25.

Prince actually plays like he’s still relevant, as do a few others, like Pink Floyd and The Who (on ocassion).

As far as Nickleback, don’t worry. You’ll be able to see them opening for Limp Bizkit on the county fair circuit in a few years.

Audioslave would be a great 1/2 time show.

Could be appropriate for Brett Farve coming back to waste another year for the Packers.

excatly. I guess the point I was trying to make was any new band would be nice to see. Look any new rock, rap, hip-hop, anything is better than the music of old.

You did bring up a good point though. Prince actually looks like he has aged pretty well. Not like Mick Jagger.

I grew up listening to classic rock. I just think it is sad what these great bands have ended up becoming.

Foo Fighters don’t tickle me. Acoustic Foo Fighters are borderline emo. You shouldn’t talk that way about Prince when many will think he treated your band’s song better than they ever have.

 1. Foo Fighters aren’t “my band”.

 2. I have never really liked Prince.

 3. Super Bowl halftime shows try to do too much in too little time.

 4. Your creaming your pants over Prince, and accuse Grohl of being ‘emo’? Sorry - that is just too funny.
Agreed. I think Prince is pretty talented. I still think the halftime show was pretty lousy. It’s hard to do a good halftime show. I like Jagger much more than Prince and thought he was awful too. It’s the nature of the halftime show.
