Super Bowl Half Time Gayness

I really enjoyed seeing Prince. I think that he’s very talented and put on a good show.

As far as thinking linkin park are better than Prince - I suppose taste is subjective, but time has a way of declaring winners.

If anyone remembers LP 20 years after they eventually disband I’ll be impressed because that will have meant that they left a mark on the industry.

Right now the only mark I see them leaving is on the back of their underwear.

As I said before, I really like
Prince. He’s no copycat, look-alike, sound-alike sampling loser like so much BS today (even though he covered various artists in the show).

I would however like to see a reunion show like Led Zeppelin or Van Halen.

Maybe Ted Nugent could rock the house?

The original poster has a thread of an argument in the fact that most great bands of yesterday are doing nothing for their legacy by hanging around.

Last year, the sight of 90-year-old Mick Jagger dancing around in his half t-shirt with his triceps jiggling to the beat prevented me from enjoying my copies of Let it Bleed, Exile and Sticky Fingers for months.

The Aerosmith who made Rocks would puke at the band today. Even McCartney, who’s still very talented, is a shell of his former self. All I can envision when I see him up there by himself is the Beatles playing on that rooftop.

Maybe I’m getting old and bitter at 25.

Prince actually plays like he’s still relevant, as do a few others, like Pink Floyd and The Who (on ocassion).

As far as Nickleback, don’t worry. You’ll be able to see them opening for Limp Bizkit on the county fair circuit in a few years.

excatly. I guess the point I was trying to make was any new band would be nice to see. Look any new rock, rap, hip-hop, anything is better than the music of old.

You did bring up a good point though. Prince actually looks like he has aged pretty well. Not like Mick Jagger.

I grew up listening to classic rock. I just think it is sad what these great bands have ended up becoming.
Keep in mind that Prince in only 48, where Mick has got to be atleast 65. And as much as i love and respect the Rolling Stones, Mick was never a picture of health, he’s always been a bit a of a cracker ass.

Pretty much.
After all,it is FOOTBALL. Aren’t they supposed to have a band play to get the players up and going?
I’m not a prince fan,but I must say, they could of done worse-like when The boyband and britney spears played.
His guitar solos were actually pretty cool.

On a side note, C-section are ugly as shit. If I had a scar that was accross my stomach like that I would think it was ugly too. Its no beauty mark.
I was going to respond to your constant Prince bashing (btw, he is a living legend and musical genius), but this C-section talk has really pissed me. What the hell is the matter with you? Who cares if a C-section scar looks good or not; the reason why it was made in the first place was to save the life of a baby. It is something more important than, say, looking hot (btw, I don’t think a C-Section scar detracts from beauty) its about saving the life of the mother and child. To make such offensive remarks about something as serious a subject as this is a clear sign to me that you are a troll.

If you mean pretend playing the guitar with a CD playing then he was the best ever.

But hey mad props to your boy.

I’ve seen a lot of good rock guitarists live and I must say that Prince took the cake. He is definitely underrated for his guitar playing skills - has more talent in his Kim Bassinger-banging-trouser-trout than Pantera have in their whole group, and to the haters out there, I second the original “fuck you”
gonna check in here as a guitar player for 17 years… i’ve studied Prince’s playing, and let me tell you… the man is jaw-dropping.

Prince has been around forever. The mere fact that we can still listen to his music today says a hell of a lot about it.

Underneath all this, I can’t imagine the level of hubris involved, when there are billions of people on the planet, to bitch that your own personal interests weren’t catered to.

Once more, to the OP, fuck you! The world does not exist for your pleasure, whiny brat.
so well put! thank you!

Am I the only person wondering how Prince was able to play electric guitar in the rain? Aside from impairing manual dexterity, wouldn’t you expect the wet guitar create a ton of distortion.

Agreed…though I honestly couldn’t figure if he actually WAS playing.

I’m not saying he can’t…just he kept stopping and walking…and I still heard the guitar playing…

I’m not a fan, nor a hater of Price…he’s ok…definitely talented, just not always my cup of music…but I’m STILL not convinced he was actually PLAYING the guitar during the show.

I’m also amazed at how fast they brought in and broke down that massive stage…

I said the same exact thing to the people I was watching with…

Between the people on the field and all the “stuff”…it was like watching David Copperfield make the shuttle disappear
yeah it’s a left handed only guitar technique to keep playing notes… you don’t need your right hand…

i started playing guitar 17 years ago… i just finished writing a book on playing guitar… trust me everyone, that was real live playing.

Word. I forget the exact interview, but I remember Eric Clapton saying that he’s learned more from Prince than anyone other musician he’s ever played with, including Jimi and all the greats.

Whoa, did Clapton really say that? That’s astounding to me. I totally agree that Prince can play. In fact, I told my son, who’s learning guitar, to watch the halftime show, just to see Prince play. But Clapton learned more from him than Hendrix? Wow. That is high praise indeed.
Clapton speaks very highly of Prince, having reportedly said that Prince was his favorite guitar player at the time.

Yeah, gonna agree with ProjectX here. Left hand only technique–hammer-ons and pull-offs. Heard Thunderstruck? The song starts with those as a main riff. I could play the first 45-50 seconds of the song and never pick a note.

Never been a Prince fan really, but after that show, I think I’m going to go out and dig up a few albums to check out his guitar work. Maybe I’ll end up getting into his music yet.

Though I’ve got to say, the Purple guitar and shadow = the most hilarious phallic innuendo I’ve seen in a while.

I mean come on…PRINCE!!!

Why is it that the only bands that play shows like this are lame ass ones?

Its always, U2 and the Stones or some other shitty band that no one listens too anymore.

All I have to say is that nothing makes football more manily than having Prince do the have time show.
Prince rocked halftime. It was nice to see someone with an ounce of talent play the damn show for once. After watching the Stones do it, I expected a damn Geritol ad to follow.

And try to come up with something more articulate than using “gayness”, homophobe.

I would post on here more if I had the time. I wonder how our friend GERRY is doing.

Classic.

WTF…GERRY to the P.
Yyyyeah… Not that I would know anything about that… (Ahem!)

Hey, look! Pancakes!

Prince is the Pinnacle Of Manliness.

He is superior to all of us mortals. Nobody can even compare to how great Prince is, except for Prince, or the Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

Damn. He’s so great. I wish I was like him in every way.
