Super Bowl Half Time Gayness

Man, I thought you were at least going to name some good bands that aren’t quite as mainstream (i.e. Raconteurs and others similar), but no, you’re another confused byproduct of MTV. Linkin Park? HA! Nickelback? HA! Those two are just hilarious. While Nas, LL, and Jay-Z are more respectable, they don’t quite match up to Prince. Turn off your television.

quit making shit up and talking about things you know nothing about. you’re an idiot if you can’t tell that was live playing, and pretty unbelieveable live playing at that. prince’s cranked to 11 tone was incredible.

you’re also an idiot if you can’t recognize a kick-ass performance when you see one regardless of what your personal tastes are.

that was the best half-time show i’ve ever seen.

I thought it was pretty bad, but I will tell anyone who will listen the Prince is one of the most underrated guitarists out there. When you get back to some of his old stuff, it is much more guitar oriented. But, they could have done a lot worse than Prince.

That said, SB halftime shows are all hype and noise - more fireworks than good music. I would much rather see some of the top college marching bands do their thing for the halftime entertainment.

Well I didn’t hear the halftime show that well, as I was talking w/ friends.
But to settle the FooFighters/Prince thing, I thought perhaps Prince sang the song “NIKKI” which is a Prince song Foo Fighters has covered.

If you haven’t heard either version I suggest you search both out.

you know what so would i…marching bands and football just go together and that’s how it should be.

that said i was amazed at how prince was able to blend all of those elements into a seamless 10 minutes . he put something in there for people of all generations: we will rock you, proud mary, watchtower(kills 2 birds w/one stone;dylan fans/hendrix fans) and best of you.

mixed it up with some of his best hits along w/the traditional halftime marching band into a ten minute spot! prince invited everyone to the party and, like a masterdj, he managed to do it AND stay true to himself at the sametime. that’s something not even the stones, aerosmith, or u2 were able to pull off.

Prince covered “Best of You”.

I think it was a great half-time show. Prince knows how to put on a show. Very entertaining.

Linkin Park and Nickelback?

Ouch.

DJ’s are NOT musicians, and the guitar players in LP leave a LOT to be desired. Can those guys even solo at all?

Chad Kroeger uses pretty much the exact same chord progression (or some variation thereof) in every song.

Comparing them to Prince is purely blissful ignorance. I’m not the biggest Prince fan by any means, but diminishing his accomplishments as an artist is pure folly.

Sorry dude. I thought you’d at least come up with someone worthy, but if you’re going to enshrine Linkin Park and call Prince and U2 “gay” - you totally lost me there.

Jesus Christ you are a little faggot. Linkin Park? A nerdy white rapper, some screaming little shit and overproduced records? Nickelback? The band who’s every song sounds exactly the same? Both of those bands are filled with millionaires and people that haven’t had to deal with the angst of life in 10+ years. LL Cool J? So you can look at his abs and jack yourself off in the middle of your living room?

As for Nas and Jay Z, and “your crew”, thanks for keeping it real- I know when I need to get the pulse of the street I turn to a white guy who skis and lives in Massachusetts.

Nickelback? Seriously? You should be euthanized.

Anyone see the FAMU band?

I can’t believe they were there, lol.

Amazing.

Am I the only person wondering how Prince was able to play electric guitar in the rain? Aside from impairing manual dexterity, wouldn’t you expect the wet guitar create a ton of distortion.

I was so distracted by the weather situation that I couldn’t really tell you if the half time show was great or just good.

I’m also amazed at how fast they brought in and broke down that massive stage…

I mean come on…PRINCE!!!

Why is it that the only bands that play shows like this are lame ass ones?

Its always, U2 and the Stones or some other shitty band that no one listens too anymore.

All I have to say is that nothing makes football more manily than having Prince do the have time show.
Sorry it was pouring out so they probably wouldn’t risk it. Plus he wasn’t in synch with his guitar. Also, they never do live performances at the super bowl. Its too fucking important to fuckup on live television.

Foo Fighters don’t tickle me. Acoustic Foo Fighters are borderline emo. You shouldn’t talk that way about Prince when many will think he treated your band’s song better than they ever have.

 1. Foo Fighters aren’t “my band”.

 2. I have never really liked Prince.

 3. Super Bowl halftime shows try to do too much in too little time.

 4. Your creaming your pants over Prince, and accuse Grohl of being ‘emo’? Sorry - that is just too funny.
5. OK.

 6. But you gotta respect.

 7. This is America, what did you expect?

 8. Never bought or even downloaded a Prince album. I just value true musicianship and creativity over yet more commoditized modern rock. Go ahead and make gay innuendos if you want.

Me neither.

Foo Fighters hardly fit the description of “commoditized” rock. One of the greatest drummers of all time, and former member of Nirvana - Daver Gruhl is a genius on par with with Prince. He just doesn’t get into the flash and fluff like Prince seems to.

Didn’t intend to make a gay innuendo - just used a term that I use all the time about folks that get a little excited.

I would like to see Aerosmith perform again without that slut britney spears. She ruined that half time show, and the song “walk this way” forever.

As for a “newer” band…I wouldn’t mind seeing Chevelle perform, or Army of Anyone (guitarist and bassist from STP with the singer from filter and some kickass drummer).

Foo Fighters is a pretty good band in this era of crap music.

Some of the people posting here have very strange taste.
