For the record, I’d like to see the original Van Halen lineup with Roth (AND Mike) do the halftime show. In a perfect world, THAT would do.

Why does anyone think Prince would cover a Foo Fighter song and not that he wrote the song and the Foo Fighters covered him?
I have The Foo Fighters’ “In Your Honor” CD, and their is no credit to Prince for writing the song. I did a google search, and the only people that show up doing a “Best of You” search was the Foo Fighters.
He covered Hendrix as well.
If you have ever heard Grohl’s accoustic version of “Best fo You” - you would know why I was glad I was on the crapper when Prince played it.

Not to change this awesome subject all of sudden. But did Guns and Roses ever do a half-time show in there peak?
I have no idea. but I did get to see them live this last December. Needless to say, it was one of the most amazing concerts I’ve ever seen. Axl was spot on amazing.
Prince actually kicked a little ass out there tonight.
game. blouses.

I did a search also which is why I apologized already. I like some of the Foo Fighter’s songs, I just don’t listen to them enough to know everything they have released in detail. From what I heard, however, it didn’t sound like he covered anything “subpar”…especially for LIVE performance.
Now that was fucking music. Definitely the best halftime show in recent memory.
Prince has been around forever. The mere fact that we can still listen to his music today says a hell of a lot about it.
Underneath all this, I can’t imagine the level of hubris involved, when there are billions of people on the planet, to bitch that your own personal interests weren’t catered to.
Once more, to the OP, fuck you! The world does not exist for your pleasure, whiny brat.

As for a band I would like. I don’t know anything that is not completely old and out dated. LL Cool J. Fuck man anyone other than a 50 year old muscians.
On a side note, C-section are ugly as shit. If I had a scar that was accross my stomach like that I would think it was ugly too. Its no beauty mark.
And LL Cool J hasn’t been around quite awhile? The guy is almost 40. Jay Z is also almost 40. And Linkin Park would be a great choice…nothing greater than singers who sound like they’re whining.
I hope that if you have a wife that ever has to have a c-section you are able to tell her how ugly her scar is. I’m sure she’ll appreciate your honesty.

You obviously know nothing about metal or the guitar for that matter.
The late Dimebag Darrell of Pantera was one of the greatest guitarists to grace earth.
Do yourself a favour and download any Pantera song and you will realise how uninformed you are.

I’ve heard Pantera. I don’t think there’s anything special there.
Either way, we’re only talking personal preference.
I daresay Prince would be a good choice whether we’d seen titty 3 years ago or not. It’s Prince, it’s gonna be surreal and he’s going to do things just because he can–like marching band backing a molasses-slow, vocally unglued ‘All Along The Watchtower’. And you’re going to like it. I liked the Foo Fighters cover better than the original while we’re at it. Good voice, good guitar, eclectic song selection, inspired arrangement. Anyone who didn’t find this a huge improvement over the stones, Wings, Nipplegate, U2, Michelle Branch, or Aerosmith/Nelly/Britney Spears, is inbred.

Foo Fighters don’t tickle me. Acoustic Foo Fighters are borderline emo. You shouldn’t talk that way about Prince when many will think he treated your band’s song better than they ever have.

Just letting you know that the words ‘lack of talent’ and ‘Dimebag Darrell’ were never used in the same sentence by anyone that knows anything about guitar.
dudes…prince is an amazing guitar player…didn’t you hear him shred?
Honestly, it was one of the first half time shows I’ve sat through in years, and I enjoyed it. At the same time, I’ve always liked Prince. His clothing style may be a little out there, but he is an amazing musician.
good lord, prince fucking owned the halftime show… you metalheads jus can’t appreciate it
In my mind, Prince Killed it. Knocked it out of the park.
Wait till it shows up on youtube, I know I can’t wait to see it again. When he pulled out the purple guitar and did Purple Rain in the damn rain, well, I think that’s one of those moments that’s really cool to see.
Must have been awesome for everyone who was there.
B.
Prince doesn’t disappoint! The halftime show rocked. Being a long time Prince nut it always amazes me that there are still people out there who think that Prince is just some lip-syncing MTV pop star clone.
Great singer, songwriter, guitar player, bass player, keyboard player, drummer, sequencing genius.
I just don’t get why you didn’t change the channel to the Puppy Bowl, featuring the Half-Time Kitty show.
Now THAT was entertainment!

Sorry, Prof. I hit reply as soon as I saw your post to me. I didn’t see your correction.

-
Foo Fighters aren’t “my band”.
-
I have never really liked Prince.
-
Super Bowl halftime shows try to do too much in too little time.
-
Your creaming your pants over Prince, and accuse Grohl of being ‘emo’? Sorry - that is just too funny.
I thought it was pretty decent. Much better than usual. I wouldn’t rave about it but the fact that I actually watched the whole thing means it was at least least respectable.
He isn’t the most manly looking guy but he is very talented.
Thank god it was not Britney Spears of Timberlake or any of that other crap.
I thought the Stones did a good job when they did it. Didn’t Paul McCartney recently do a half time show? He is still awesome.
