Subcutaneous Injections

Quick question about SQ injections having never done one. Can you inject a straight ethyl alcohol solution - say 0.3 mLs SQ safely ? Or will it hurt like a bugger ?

It would be “safe” in that it wouldn’t cause death or illness, but it would hurt and it would damage/destroy some surrounding tissue.

  1. Make sure it is filtered. Sterile or not, tiny particles are not your friend.

  2. Why would you inject ethanol, and why subQ?

Oh - just to be sure I have a simple way of maintaining a setrile solution containing a peptide like hexarelin. I suppose I could use autoclaved sterile water, 0.45 micron filtered, but I felt it would carry a slightly higher risk of infection with my own reconstituted peptide solution.

I’m not familiar with reconstituting hexarelin, but I can’t imagine you’d need .3ml of ethanol for each dose. Is this standard? Most of those peptides use insulin pins to administer, and that would be 30IU.
