I’m going to Barcelona on Saturday for 4 months to study abroad so…
I was wondering if you guys had any advice on what to do and where to go? Fun stuff only though, I’ll probably do most of the touristy shit with the school. Also feel free to share some stories.
I’m going to be traveling all over Europe too. This will all be with 12 of my guys friends too. With this many of us (all about 21) there are going to be a lot of interesting stories to come home with.
Any yes I will be joining a gym the first week there.
I am so jealous. My only advice is to try not to hang with your boys at the expense of meeting locals. You can do both but beware falling back on the crutch of speaking english and hanging with familiar people doing shit you could do back home.
Ive never been to Barcelona but Ive met a ton of people who LOVE it. Have a blast.
Oh and if you are going to improve language skills try to hook up and lock some girl into being your tutor for 4 months in exchange for PIIHP, lol.
make sure you go down La Rambla- theres some excellent bars down there and the living statues are cool. look for the guys handing out flyers on the street- its often cheaper entry and free drinks if you have the flyer. look for a little bar called the Traveller’s bar for a cheap fun piss-up, i havent been there in years but it used to be 2 euro for a litre of San Miguel- plus theres loads of aussies there- aussie girls are fun and amaaaazing!
Go for a big game to Campo Nou- the atmosphere is intense! see if there are any matches against real madrid, they may be more expensive but theyre worth it! dont go for a small match, the atmosphere is so much better at the la liga big games!
also check out Maremagnum in Barceloneta (pronounced marry-mag-nmm) -awesome place for a day visit.
Since youre already there I’m guessing you found out how small the portions of food you get for the money are. Even if you shop at the big market on Las Ramblas you’re going to be spending a lot of money of food. Supplements should be the last thing you worry about. A semester abroad is not the time to go broke on cured pork, seafood and bread just for the sake of some muscle.
I studied abroad in Valencia a few summers ago, but on one of the weekends we made a trip to barcelona. The city is crazy. Tons of fun, but obviously be careful, it can be a tourist trap. Lots of people on the trip had things like their wallets stolen, but I guess that can happen in any big city.
Sweet places to go: La rambla, La Bolsa Stock Exchange Bar is a really neat bar, Chupitos is another cool bar where their entire wall is just a giant list of creative shots. And if you can, try and go see a futbol game like everyone else has already said. The atmosphere and the fans there are pretty insane. And I don’t know if they have it in Barcelona but there’s lots of places in spain to check out a bull fight.

Yeah I am not used to the small portions. I just shop at el corte ingles and buy mostly meats, fruits, vegetables and nuts. I just brought grow whey and finibars with me in terms of supplements.
Oh and the worst possible news ever, I joined a gym there and have just realized that there is no fucking squat rack. I’m probably just going to finish out the month and try to find another gym. I couldn’t believe my eyes.
My friend came back from his grand European tour saying the women in barcelona were the finest on the continent. Im fixing to find out if that is true or not.
