^ That is the thought, unfortunately I have to think long term with my medical and family history. What I am really trying to do is get my lean body mass as high as possible. I just cant do what I did in my 20’s of gain muscle and fat and then lose the fat. I have serious insulin restistance issues.
DJ, you are cool beyond belief, but I’m dying to open a can of whup-ass on you for that last remark! I used to put myself in that same category.

Hahahahaha okay which comment and I will try to clarify some.
I used to weigh 305 so I have a very easy time gaining weight. The older I get the more issues I have with intrabdominal fat and diet. I have been on every diet you could think of and I always try to keep up to date on what evidence based diets are actually working.
Now for the medical field that I have worked in for 20 years one thing is nobody is the same. We all have different metobilism and body chemistries. For me I have to be on a strict carb restricted diet. I have done self controlled blood work vs diet regiment etc. I eat more carbs my trigs and LDL go through the roof. Since I only know one side of my family history no point in playing with fire. I really dont know if I could end up diabetic and hypertensive in my 40’s but everything is pointing to that way.
That being said I have a love and passion for power lifting, however I dont want to be 300 pounds again. So what I am trying to do is get as strong as possible, be healthy as possible and live as long as possible. Without being on medicaton or being disabled. ![]()

Those are my exact goals too. In fact what more important goals can there be.
Okay, I’ll put the can back on the shelf for another day. ![]()
I know you’re a smart guy, and that you tend not to make comments frivolously. Anytime I get a whiff of someone abdicating their personal responsibility for their fatness/diet by bringing up insulin resistence I kinda come unglued. Within the context of your larger story, I get ya’.
^ Understand what you are saying and I would agree 100%. I joined T-Nation back in the early 2000 and got into lifting again, herniated 3 discs in the lower back. Went to running and cardio. Dropped down to 180-190 and kept that for a long time. Got tired of running and knees were giving me problems. So May of 09 decided to get back into lifting. Of course I forgot my login and password so created new account.
Getting back into the iron I read a lot and decided I wanted my strength back up. Started lifting heavy and eating more, my body did not respond like it did when I was younger. Like I said, my Trigs hit 300 and my LDL hit 156, I already have a HDL that stays below 40 and my fasting Glucose was now around 110. Classic metobolic syndrome, hell I have treated this with my patients.
So had to change the diet big time, no more 4 protein shakes a day with milk and eating 3 meals a day.
Now its way low carbs, Trigs are at 80, LDL is at 130 and HDL still at 40, and fasting Glucose down to 90. So thats my story about my personal insulin resistance and why I will for the rest of my life battle easy weight gain.
Respect.
And I’d say you successfully got diesel. I also did a lot of running, WAAAAAAY back in my 20s. I think I weighed 150 lb back then.
NARF!
^ 150 lbs, man havent seen that since 7th grade. Best friends wife called me skeletor when I was 175 lbs. Everyone kept asking me how long I had to live. 205 lbs is probably my natural weight for my stature.
Friday Deload week
Front Squat
135 X 3 X 5
185 X 3 X 5
205 X 3 X 5
Thats it, glad the deload week is over. Now tomorrow I get to go back and see if my heart will explode out of my chest or maybe some seizure activity. Please pray for me.
Saturday Day of death
100 Meter lunges BW
100 Dips
100 Ring rows
1st time you stop 50 situps
2nd time you stop 40 situps
3rd time you stop 30 situps
4th time you stop 20 situps
5th time you stop 10 situps
after 5th time you can stop as needed no more situps. Leg gave out on the lunges with 10 meters left to go, just fell on my fat ass. Funny feeling to legs not happened like that in a long time. I have not done that many situps since HS football. Fuck me almost two hours later now and I still have the shakes to legs and arms.
^^ I just threw up, Just Looking over your death day.
Ugh. I hate the DeFranco s##t.
Damn.
Well, at least you’re going to have buns and abs of steel.
Are the ring rows inverted rows with rings?

Ring row? Is that like Ringworm?
^ Hahaha fuck man its just inverted hanging rows with the rings. I have always just used my straight bar in my power rack. Of course I haven’t done 100 reps of anything in a long time. Situps fucking killed me, today my abs felt like I went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson.

You’re not alone there. I’ll never do 'em again either.
Its funny how things affect people differently. Dips never hurt my shoulders like milies.

Okay fucked up big time, just not my week. Got two reps felt great at 385, left hand was losing grip so on the 3rd attempt reset. Rolled lower back, immediate pain dropped weight. I was actually recording it on my laptop. Now no DL for at least a month. Today I can at least move some, yesterday couldnt even stand up straight. Fucking pisses me off to now end. Going to put the video of the 335 X 3 so you can see form.
