You probably mentioned this already somewhere, but are you using the Fat Gripz on pressing for shoulder health?
That and grip strength also my right elbow gives me a little trouble if I over do it. Never going to be able to compete in powerlifting, strong man and no way I have time for BB. So I just keep to the 5/3/1 as a template try to maintain strength stay healthy for the long run. So that being said I like to change the main lifts up every 3-4 months. Adding in the Fat Gripz has really helped the foundation strength in my opinion.
2nd week of no legs, figure this will really get my hip problem fixed. Back to the grind next week.
Mind sharing thoughts about Fat Gripz and pressing. Is there any value? I hear contradictions. My grip is my major weak point, so this is of major interest.
They work a lot cheaper than buying a fat bar. I had a kid that works for me make me farmers walk bars and that also has increased my grip strength. I think the fat grip cost me like 40 bucks well worth it.

Nice work DJ!
Fat Gripz rock! i should use mine more often.
I got a pair of gripz myself. Great tool.
My question was more about overhead pushing and Fat Gripz. Is there any point? I can see when you are holding a fat bar against gravity the wider grip makes your squeeze harer… but overhead… what is my feeble noggin missing here?

Probably nothing more than mental on my part. However a lot of guys over at the Elite site do say more big bar work is better on the joints especially wrists etc. I have a huge cyst on my right wrist that I refuse to go get cut out. I have noticed less problems the more I use the fat gripz.
^^^ Ive got one of those on my left wrist.
^ Your my saw paw brother from another mother.
Remember back in the 90’s when the “in thing” was to drop your wrists/hands (basically hyperextend your wrist) when you are doing curls. Was supposed to really isolate your biceps, well it fucked up my wrist. I have cut it out with a surgeon once, I did it once in my bathroom myself. Now I just drain it and inject with Depo-Medrol every 6 months. Man but sometimes that shit hurts and really effects my grip strength.
That looks like a ganglion cyst. Is it?

Yes it is. I will need a hand/wrist surgeon to really fix it. Thats probably 4-6 weeks no upper body lifting. Plus its on my dominant arm, so could effect ability to write, which would really effect work.

Ive had mine almost 20 years . It comes and goes. I’m not sure but I think Ive got some calcium built up there . I was told only to worry about mine only if I noticed any weakness in my hand or numbness.

Its a herniation (bubble in the tire) of the nerve sheath, or could be tendon sheath. Synovial fluid accumulates in that bubble. Only way to get rid of it totally is surgery. Have you ever had it drained? Its a yellow amber gel type substance. Looks like tree sap.
I know with your back ground you ll appreciate this video . Every one else might get squeamish ,
The one below is located the same place where mine occurs.
That’s freaking gross.
Now I know why I don’t do a ton of curls. They result in yucky ganglion cysts.
DJHT, yours doesn’t look big in the picture but I can see how it would affect your lifts. Nice lifting though.
If you saw it in person you would. I have patients even ask about it. I always chase the 14 year old daughter around to rub on her head. She thinks its gross. Thanks this week has been shit, BCS game, two nightly meetings in a row, 28 degrees this morning in my garage. I have no type of cold weather workout gear. I just couldnt do it in shorts and tshirt. I also have not had time to go buy sweats due to work. Oh well. Will just get 3 days again this week of lifting.
Bulldog going to have to look at video tomorrow when I get home. What is it?
I’ve got one of those on the outside of my right wrist, right over the bone. It interferes a little with flexing my wrist upwards. I asked a doctor about it years afo and he said “Well, I could whack it with a dictionary.”
He was totally serious.
I opted out of trying this miracle treatment from modern medicine.
^Hahahahahahaha yea they used to call them Bible bumps, cause you would put a bible on it and whack the bible with a hammer. It basically ruptures the cyst, however they come back even after doing that. Not worried about the pain, more just about how long out of lifting. I should have done before the holidays. I am seriously thinking about doing it before I go on vacation this summer.
