Hey, ouro, I just had the most brilliant idea (while picking up pony poops…an activity that seems to inspire more esoteric thought?!). I’ll have to check out a few things, but I just MAY have found a way to jumpstart my somewhat anemic Strength standing! And it doesn’t involve steroids, or disabling the competitition a la Tonya Harding!! Cackle, cackle.

p.s. TNT, I like what ouro’s said about your first aid prowess. Do you perchance keep a defibrillator at the boathouse?

No defibrillator, I prefer mouth to mouth and gentle heart massage, but I’m getting a little rusty and need some willing volunteers.

Judging from those pictures of your back development, me thinks you’ve been dipping into the horse feed. That’s not back hair, that’s a mane.

GOOD NEWS!!! Just heard from the Woodstock organizer and the log press is going to be LOWERED to 80-85 lb.

We celebrated Canada Day with a butt kicking workout. Lisa discovered a new technique for the Duck Walk - she fucking SPRINTED the 75’ in 11.5 sec. with 140 lb. The real kicker is a new kid named Christy (125 lb) that did it in 10.47.
We’ll keep increasing by 10 lbs. each week till we get to the competition weight of 180 lb.

I’ll get the girls to post some picks.

I’d like to see a video of the duck walk to see the technique she is using.

That’s good news about the log press. The weight was out of line with the others.

Did they say anything about the structure of the medley i.e. time, distance etc.?

The farmers walk is 75’, turn and 75’ return. The tire flip is 75’. So let’s guess how long the Duck Walk and the Sled Drag are??? I would say that they’re using a 75’ course for all events.

Long steps for the Duck Walk. I looks totally out of control and if anyone falls it ain’t going to be pretty. I’m worried about knees and ankles also. It looks really dangerous, but then driving the 401 is dangerous too.

We truly did. I can hardly wait for Woodstock.

Love the new avatar by the way

Just to give fair warning, thanks to TNT-CDN’s genorosity with his time and coaching, ouro and micro had a bit of a muscle-screamer workout on several of the strength events on Sunday evening. (Well, ouro ‘did it all and more’, while micro did her scaled-down version of gutting it out!)

TNT’s rowers were out as well, of course; they are one strong group of gals; TNT has been working overtime ‘replicating’ the stuff used in most strength competitions i.e. farmer’s walk frame/weight, duck walk contraption, log press etc.

It all made for a verrry interesting evening…no time to get bored, that’s for sure! Ouro will be posting some pics on Monday, while I’ll hopefully be downloading a few camera vid clips (some rather dramatic footage, but I’ll leave that to the imagination for now!)

Thanks again for allowing us to train with your gals, TNT; we really appreciate it (even ol’ micro, who’s just dabbling!). And that chocolate milk concoction just needs a dollop of Bailey’s to make it perfect!

Ouro vs. Tire…

Farmer’s Walk a la ouroboro_s!?

Sooooooooo, where’s the vids???
You and that damn camera. At least with a horse you know which way to point it.

TNT

I think we’re experiencing technical difficulties. I hope they come up okay. Micro managed to capture the 2008 farmer’s walk mishap that resulted in my leg looking like this.

It doesn’t really look too bad. It’s much scabbier and bruised looking now. My advice to anyone who cares, make sure the collars are tight. 15’ into my run at 120lbs/side the left side blew a collar plates fell off mid walk and the whole shooting match went sideways.

I managed to capture her doing the entire 150’ with 100lbs/side. No bruises, abrasions or cuts resulted from her walk.

Wellllll, pore leetle micro has had the 'puter on since 7 a.m. trying to load 2-3 fab vid clips from the Sunday workout!! We’s out in the boonies, so we have to make do with dial-up; the first clip I loaded of ouro a few weeks ago took about 2 hours…at least it ultimately loaded!

This time, I dunno what the scoop is, and I’m going bonkers quite nicely already without comments from the peanut gallery (and pick up the shells, already, TNT!). I shall continue to strive/struggle/wrestle to get at least one dratted clip up!!

Sorry, ouro…and to anyone else waiting-along with TNT-with baited breath?!-I promise you it’ll be worth the delay. In the meantime, maybe you could post something thrilling, Mr. Peanut!!

p.s. muchos impressive new avatar, ouro-arrrrrr!! + how 'bout putting up at least one pic besides your poor calf (I know the photographer was a tad?? off form, but hopefully there’s at least one more shot that’s not of the sky, or someone’s butt??..yeesh/blush)

Okay, now I’m going to attempt to load this video. This is the one where my farmer’s walk went pear shaped. Please note that it might have been better if I hadn’t held the bar so far forward on this one.

These 2 girls are better than SNL and Yuk Yuks put together. Julie now has matching scars - front and back on her legs.
These are 2 of the hardest working females I have ever met.

You have both put the “fear” into these rowers for this strongman competition. Thanks for motivating them in a way that I never could have done. This thing is really heating up and we’re still 4 weeks out from the comp.

I’ll get some of the girls to post their vids/pics, but I’m sure they will pale in comparison to the great cinematographer Miss Micro. Actually the sky over Lake Scugog can be quite beautiful and so can some people’s butt.

TNT

Shucks, thx for the positive feedback, TNT (my humour was a tad on the snippy side yesterday after wrassling with unsuccessful vid uploads on and off all Mon.-argh!). You are sure spot on when you remark on ouro’s work ethic; she’s a BEAR for the tuff stuff; nails for breakfast, yum!

Moi, being micro and all i.e. having to recognize certain limitations of size (whether I want to or not!), am not quite in ouro’s macro-tough category. Which is why I’m trying to branch out into cinematography?!, although the sheer stubborness I put into lifting doesn’t quite seem to translate into success on the ‘screen’/BB!

It was definitely a kick to be able to work out with your strong!/young! rowers, and to be able to use your well-constructed ‘strongal’ event equipment (well, maybe not the Farmer’s Walk thingy, just for that ONE particularily exciting attempt ouro made!).

You’re certainly keeping those rowers-among others in the club-in fighting trim; I’ve been coached by a lot of folks over the years in different sports, and you sure learn to appreciate the good ones (lucky _____ Rowing Club!).

Ouro and I really do appreciate your unselfishness in letting us join in…well, ouro participating fully, and me staggering all over ineptly photographing (yeesh). Oh, well, at least there’s hopefully!? some entertainment value in that!

Good thing your rowers have an experienced fitness/strength coach to keep them on the right path, otherwise I’d worry about my corrupt influence, heh heh.

p.s. …will ‘motivate’ for apples and supertest chocolate milk!

Who missed the clamp on the bar on that farmers walk?! LOL!

Nice job, guys! Keep up the great work!

I was going to cop to it since really, everyone should be responsible for their own equipment. But since you raised your hand first, I’ll let you have it

The one that made me laugh was the older gentleman who wandered over to our farmer’s walk bars when we were in between runs. He had to test them out because he thought they were fake weights.

Heres taylan running with 121 lbs in each hand

duck walk!
