Strong Little Snapper

Not good enough.

Yet.

Also, it took a lot for me to get on the platform the first time. Had never competed at anything athletic before. I don’t like being watched when I lift. Am very shy about it, in fact.

I know that shyness, not good enough thing holds back a lot of people but i still think you would absolutely love it!!!

Edit: Just hate to see potential and great experiences to to waste, and i mean that as a compliment to your lifting.

I agree with maxing in the suit, you need to gauge where you are now for training.
Me in a USAPL meet, hmmm…

Today I tested out my max in my new wide-stance Centurion squat suit. Something my husband has always said is that if a sport is gear-dependent, get the best. And he’s right. It is really, really hard work for me in this suit, but I see the payoff in terms of numbers. The forward pull is outrageous. I have to fight so hard to not GM the bar and fall forward.

Squat
5/45
5/95
3/120 belt
2/140
1/150
1/175 knee wraps, suit straps down, just seating the suit
1/190 knee wraps, suit straps down, more seating of the suit
1/205 full gear but not deep enough
1/220 Good and a geared PR!
1/225 Two attempts on one walkout with lots of crazy weirdness and nowhere near deep enough
1/225 PR @ roughly double BW!

Stopped there. I was exhausted. My CNS is not prepared for these weights. My legs can handle it, but I felt sick and dizzy after my final three attempts. Walking out the 220 and 225 twice was really, really hard for me. And I squatted those weights with the speed of a tortoise. Very, very sluggish down and up.

So I’ll set my current geared 1 RM at 225 even though it’s probably a wee bit higher.

I need to do a couple of things to get prepared to handle heavier weights. Heavy walkouts (stumble-outs, in my case) and reverse bands to train my CNS. Also some explosive work like sprints or plyo jumps like Rick has suggested. And I gotta work my abs. I just gotta.

I bailed on accessory work but will either do it tonight or tomorrow early.

WOW! You just squatted my lifetime DEADLIFT goal. Holy shit, that’s heavy! Very nicely done.

I completely agree with your husband. I don’t skimp on sports/fitness/lifting related stuff.

Awesome squatting!

Here’s my 225-lb. squat video.

I look like I’m going to hurl at the end. Which is how I felt.

Fuck that was awesome.
Sorry but Snap, WOW. I’m so jealous of your 2xBW squat.

much better than my 225 lb squat. nice work

Great work! That’s amazing indeed.

james

Awesome squat

damn that was awesome! you killed it!!!

i bet you needed to sit down for a bit after :-/

i hear you about being shy when people watch you lift. i feel the same way. wonder sometimes how i got myself into this since i guess the idea is for people to watch sports lol.

i understand that you might not feel like you are ready because of rehabbing your bench and stuff. but you bloody well better do it one day. i mean… you said that that was what you wanted to do one day - right? we will do our best to hold you to it. when you feel ready, though.

what an awesome squat!

out damn standing Snap, just getting that thing on looked exhausting.

awesome work. good job getting the centurion. I know people that compete multiply that use that suit, it is that good.

Snap please stop skipping your abs…lol. I have missed my last 2 wed ab workout. How about we both do them tomorrow?

Awesome work!

Congratulations. Great new PR.

Holy crap that was awesome! Fantastic. I’m going to tease you a little and tell you my friend Karen told me “TWO steps back. One. Two.”

Actually three.

Do as I say. Not as I do.

Very intense squat. Your brain might be seeing “no mas” right now, but your form is saying “more”!

Oh, and I got a chuckle watching someone lean and fit waddling like a roly-poly fatty.
