Strong Little Snapper

SNAP YOU DID INCREDIBLY WELL…

It is SO hard to come back when something situational doesn’t go your way, (too early wrap and a delay getting the rack correct)… You came back and still performed extremely well.

Congratulations!

You upped your total coming off an injury, thats a good result.

just wanted to point out that your meet total was 5x your bodyweight.

Arachne and I hit around 3x

your rock and inspire others woman. imperfections and all.

Belated congrats. You done good. Nuff said.

Wow, snap, great meet! increased total and every damn thing. Nicely Done!

looked like a success to me, awesome dl vid

Sorry the meet didn’t go as planned. I’m glad you’re feeling better about it.

Did you notice Heinrich’s squat spots? I told him he kept drifting his hand over the hip crease and I couldn’t tell depth, but he kept doing it! I white lighted several questionable squats just because I couldn’t see shit. I miss the old spotters.

I suddenly have a craving for bacon - can’t imagine why…

I’m way late to this party… sorry.

I’m pretty speechless, little lady. That was fantastic.

And for the record, I can’t stand sumo deadlifts either.

So what’s next?

Ditto on “craving”. But for Surf and Turf, Emeril style.

I can see why the spotting posed a challenge for you as a ref. Heinrich did spot with his hands hovering at the hips. I noticed that. And he talked to me the whole time through my squats. “Nice and easy on the walkout. You can do this. Down and up real easy . . .” Stuff like that. Never had that experience before with a spotter. I said something to the other female lifters about him doing that and they said he didn’t do that to them. Maybe it was all in my head?

I don’t know exactly. Been laying low this week. Trying to figure out what to do next training-wise to take me to the next level. Any ideas?

I’m planning to order new gear (squat/DL suits) that fits me properly. And soon.

I’ll probably do two more meets this year and then go to USAPL nationals next spring if my numbers are respectable enough. I’ve considered competing in another fed, but the only other one that is locally active is NASA. Not sure I see the benefit there. They use a monolift and I have nowhere to train that has one.

Numbers-wise, I need to be able to hit a 2x BW squat. I’m only 10 lb. off, so I should be able to get there. I’d like to up my DL a bit more. And bench has to move.

That’s it.

i suggest you depth mark your squats and don’t do any that are lower. i know it was mostly about the gearing up early but sounds like you still got a bit of an old motor program that you revert to in times of stress. but i expect you either know this or else i’m full of shit.

awesome work snap.

always loking for improvement is a good thing,
don’t downplay your success.

maybe you just discovered a cottage industry
for woman’s gear

Maybe you should try Westside? It’s too complicated for me but I’ve been studying lil power’s log to try to understand how to implement it. You certainly can’t argue with her results.

So after feeling somewhat under the weather all week and suffering a backache from my failed third attempt pull last weekend, I decided to go visit my ART guy today. He worked my back and found that I essentially pulled a muscle in my mid-back, not lower back as I had thought. He also “adjusted” me, which he’s never done before. Apparently I was out of alignment? I must admit, I felt much better after he tweaked me a bit.

He then worked my errant hammie. It’s always the same one that acts up. And he did some checks on my repaired shoulder. For some reason, my infraspinatus is not firing in a small range of motion. I tore my supraspinatus, but one of the anchors to piece it back together was sunk into the adjoining infraspinatus. The anchoring process must have affected some nerves. He gave me some eccentric exercises to do for that.

We then had an interesting discussion about cardio training. He’s a Poliquin man and not in favor of me doing any steady-state cardio since I don’t need to lose weight and he believes it will cause strength loss (as defined by 1 RM numbers) and work against my powerlifting goals. He did say that certain explosive moves could be incorporated into my training if I so desired.

I’m still researching programs for my next training cycle, which will start Monday. My next meet will probably be the Rocky Mountain State Games at the end of July. That’s quite a ways off.

Go Westside, throw some additional plys into your new gear, and hit some PRs:)

your new avi makes me think of a modern Joan of Arc: beautiful strong and somewhat distant, not of this world.

a like it

Very impressive meet videos. That deadlift just flew up. Don’t get yourself too down. You are an inspiring woman. Take some time, regroup. Have some ice cream, you earned it.
