Since you’re about a month out when will you set your meet numbers?
Now.

Here’s what I’m thinking in pounds:

Squat:
181.5 open
192.5 or 198 second
203.5 or 209 third (either is a PR and USAPL state record for my size/age)

Bench:
93.5 open
99 second
104.5 third

DL
225.5 open
236.5 or 242 second
247.5 or 253 (either is a PR and USAPL state record for my size/age)
Those will be awesome! And very attainable. 2 records for the uber win!
I would loan you some of my mojo but OldGoat borrowed it and then left…

No problem getting powerlifting depth even with a pretty wide stance. Hit the pins on my fourth rep and had to really work to recover. I’m strongly considering squatting with this stance at my next meet.

Finished up with seated lat pulldown, weighted hypers, paused shrugs, and planks.
Excellent work!
Good luck at meet.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback. It means a lot to me.

Today was bench training. I think I mentioned that I will no longer be adding weight to my bench at this point. I’ve been having some shoulder/arm issues of late. Bicep tendonitis as well as some pain in my forearm. Also, numb fingers at times. And general shoulder aching and fatigue. Not good. Quite honestly, I don’t mind dealing with the pain as long as I know that I’m not inflicting further damage. That’s my only concern.

I think I was wildly unrealistic to believe that I would be full strength 10 months post-surgery. Both my surgeon and PT told me the healing process alone takes a year, let alone the time to rebuild strength. I’m trying to remain positive and just maintain strength levels, which is proving to be a bit of a challenge in and of itself. After my meet, I can figure out how to proceed.

Damn. I love this sport.

bummer about the bench, but sounds like you are making a wise decision. of course, you could always try going to multi-ply and add to your bench that way:)

A hundred lb bench is still respectable for your size. And if both squat and deadlift make the state record or come close, what more could you ask? Which means a very good total.

state records on 2 outta 3 lifts. That’s not a bad comeback.

Fantastic! Can’t wait to cheer for you.

Nice work

10 months out from surgery and competing- nice job.

leave benching to the BOF.

good luck at your meet

PS Sad to say that bicep tendonitis and brokenated shoulders go hand in hand

I love that you love this sport. Sounds like your recovery from surgery is doing better than expected. Wise to appreciate that and be a bit careful not to mess up the rehab, though. Numb fingers doesn’t sound very fun :frowning:

Your passion for lifting always comes through in your posts. Being smart about bench should be easier when you know that your favorite squats and deads are progressing well.

I can’t believe it has only been 10 months since your surgery. Your progress is tremendous.

Actually, I am just shy of nine months. But it will be almost ten months by meet time.

I’m meeting Arachne today (she’s got a log in the PW section). She’s considering doing a powerlifting meet. I’ll help her out for a bit and then do my own DL training. I’m attempting to pull 240 lb. today, which is only 2 lb. less than my all-time PR. We shall see. Then more raw wide-stance squats. After lifting, I’m heading directly to Wyoming for my daughter’s gymnastics meet. And then I’ll drive clear to western Colorado on Saturday for my son’s hockey games. In other words, I’ll be taking this weekend off from training!

I am very jealous of your meetup! Have a wonderful time and kick some ass on those DLs.

Good luck on the pulling and to your kids as well.

!240!

WOW!

Good luck, have fun!

be a good mentor, kick ass pulling today, and drive safely !

oh, the joy of being a parent of young athletes. Im right there with you It keeps us hopping all the time also.

Spent forever in the gym this morning. Drove kids to school and then met with Arachne around 9:30-ish. Didn’t start my own lifting till 11. Left the gym at 1:20 pm tired and famished.

RDL
8/45

Conventional DL
5/95
5/115
4/145
3/170
2/190 belt
1/220 full gear
1/240
2/3/205

The 240 came up fine. And here’s the amazing thing: I did not flap stall. Well, maybe 5 seconds worth. My coach said I was a little slow off the floor and started the pull with my hips high. Not a surprise. I’ve stopped videoing my DLs until after the meet. I don’t want to obsess about form at this point. After the meet, I’ll work on it.

Wide-Stance Squats (raw)
5/95
5/115
3/3/135

I spent a long time in the hole on the last rep of the last set.

Lat Pulldown
2/5/100

Too heavy. Too tired. Left gym. In Wyoming now. And plan to have a filet mignon this evening.

Ahh, good steak. I remember those. So I’m dying to know. What is good girl/bad girl?
