I’m going to chime in and agree with everyone else - very smart to re-set your max and focus on your form. No point trying to rush the progress. Always lots of smart training going on in here!

Absolutely agree with what everyone says, and because you know I’m a sentimental person, I just want to add that you have been my lifting role model from the get go and I’ve always turned to your log for information and inspiration!

Being cognizant of our strengths and weaknesses, concentrating on form, working slowly and persistently - these are some great lessons that you’ve taught me and that I apply in my own training :slight_smile:

Today’s training was once again weakened by a lack of sleep (as a veteran insomniac, I know that this too shall pass). But I did the best I could with what I had.

5/3/1 Off the Reservation Day

Squats (3 risers/step)
Bar 1 x 10 warmup
75# 1 x 5
105 2 x 5 <–first few reps of each set looked good, last couple had knee cave issues.
75# 1 x 20 <–all reps good

Clearly working form at 105-110 lbs. will take some time over the next month or so.

Bench Press
Bar 1 x 10
75# 1 x 7, 1 x 5 <–weak, failed on 8 and 6 in a major way --couldn’t get it off ma chest. Wishing for bigger boobs, but alas. Also, my left wrist twanged me on a rep or two. Maybe I should wrap??
55# 1 x 20 <–just getting some volume in

Walking lunges
25s 1 x 69 steps, no stopping

Dips
BW 1 x 20 <–wrist felt fine – YAY!)

Seated 1 arm cable rows
27.5 (probably closer to kg than lbs) 1 x 15, both arms

Ab work (planks, side planks)

Cable hip adductions/abductions
12.5# 3 x 12, each leg, 2 exercises

My left knee patellar tendonitis did not care for my two hour bicycle ride on Monday. Icing, foam rolling, stretching, doing my PT exercises. Considering ART for it.

Sorry to hear about the knee. Mine have been vexacious today as well but yes, ART is always good.
Your squats are making me look bad, too.

Gotta say Kimba…it looks like you had a pretty decent day training by my account. PRs are usually done in spans of months…you’ve been hitting them in spans of weeks. Great stuff, but eventually it does catch up to us! So don’t get all down on yourself…I thought you had a pretty shit-hot day!

Yeah, I guess since my name starts with “T” I spaz on the whole username thing sometimes and forget to go by that instead…

And thank you for the good vibes…nice to know there are people out there who appreciate the work that goes into it…Still trying to gain some weight though…235-240 by next spring means A LOT of eating and sleeping…well we’ll see how it goes…

Cal, my knee feels better but I’m quite concerned that an easy bicycle ride triggered some pain. I have an ART appointment later day to check out whether this therapy might be useful with my on-going patellar tendonitis struggles.

CDQ – I am definitely not down about my recent workouts. Working through challenges is as interesting (but granted, not as much fun) as setting PRs.

Maschy, there is a two day per week version of 5/3/1 which combines deadlift/MP and squat/bench. Although I train three days per week, one of those days is not a 5/3/1 day, so largely I follow the two-day template. When I can, I give MPs their own day in my fancy-schmancy bedroom gym. :slight_smile:

Rachelle, for some reason I am good at dips. Everyone has their own little niche!

N., I have the VS Very Sexy pushup bra which adds a bit of heft to my A cups. But I have never been tempted to wear all of this gel padding to the gym! Not yet, anyway.

See! That’s the benefit of small breasts. While there’s no tittie fucking going on in my house, there’s nothing dropping as a result of age and gravity either.

Buy they are small…just small and floppy. Always have been though. I failed the pencil test even in my teens. When I was younger I hated them and wished I could be totally flat chested like a bloke. I like them better since I got my nipples pierced, but really I’m rather ambivalent about the actual boobage - I just love my pecs.

Oh, someone was asking 'bout doing squats and bench(?) on the same day…yeah, why not? I’m doing a 3 day TBT cycle per week. I just ‘focus’ on different planes on each day, but I hit top to bottom for the frequency/volume issue. I figure Kimba’s doing something very similar…

mine have never been perky either…but now its all pecs, skin + whatever tissue makes up the inside of the boob( I should know this, I took anatomy) and nips…oh well…
