Iāve heard Dave Tate say that the reason he canāt straight bar squat anymore is that he stopped using one for a while due to pain and lost the mobility to do it at all.
When that was an issue for me, @alex_uk suggested a change that was incredibly helpful. You basically just take your pinky finger and your thumb off the bar. So your thumb will go same side as your fingers like a false grip for pressing, and your pinky will come under the bar. It was absolutely incredible how big a difference this made for me.
Front squats instead?
Just to drop the original article in here (I take no credit) Iāve not used standard grip since finding this method works a treat.
