Alright bros
I herniated a disc a couple months back however I’m a total idiot and need to train as you all well know
I’ve focused exclusively on machines and dumbbells. I’ve lightened weight and focused on bodybuilding style reps. The slow and controlled stuff that we’re being told is not effective anymore
I am sick of the fitness space by the way. It is grown men crying about training mostly. Folk bitching about training styles that don’t align with their own.
I work on the gym floor and have done so for years. I am frontline and people just want to get their head down and feel good about themselves. People should never be discouraged from doing what they want to do by some muscle bound idiot who would have a hernia, climbing a set of stairs
Just do something until it gets stressful. That’s when you know you’re in the Goldilocks zone. Stay there for as long as possible
Oh and listen to @T3hPwnisher . He will set you on the path

Good to see you post! Looking jacked dude, sorry about the back, but nice pivot, working through the injuries and coming out bigger than ever!
@Frank_C - interesting seeing this post after our conversation in your journal.

What do you do for legs? As you can see by @alex_uk 's post, I’m tired of battling low back pain and need to figure it out.

I’ve been using Bulgarian split squat, single leg press (light weight, slow and high reps), leg extensions and belt squats
Seated leg curl and a weird glute ham raise where I focus more on a hinge

Yeah man back pain is next level. Excruciating when it happens. So much so that it alters you psychologically.

My initial injury was back in 2014. I was just about to turn 30 and wanted to max on deadlift (which I’d never done). I bulged a disc, sprained my SI joint ligaments, and shifted the right side of my pelvis up and forward. I was squatting with minor stiffness two weeks later thinking how lucky I was. And then the disc swelled to the point of pinching a nerve causing my medial quad to stop working and my lower leg to go completely numb. It was strange not being able to hold up 30 lbs on the leg extension because there was no activity in at least half my quad. Luckily it all healed up once the swelling went down, but I continue to re-aggravate it at least once a year. Maybe it’s time to learn…
