Strikeforce - Miami Predictions

Nick Diaz vs Marius Zaromskis
Cristiane Santos vs. Marloes Coenen
Melvin Manhoef vs Robbie Lawler
Herschel Walker vs Greg Nagy
Bobby Lashley vs Wes Sims
also: Jay Hieron vs Joe Riggs on EA(?) Stream

Hopefully, Zaromskis. Sherdog’s “Pro’s pick” says 20-0 in favour of Diaz. Ouch!
Coenen is a beauty and the Cyborg wins by smash.
Manhoef - Lawler is exciting. Lawler if he controls the pace.
Walker should lose, would be better for MMA
Sims if he’s aggressive enough
Riggs

DIAZ
Coenen submission
Lawler KO just have a feeling in this one
Don’t care but Walker I guess, AKA is talking him up
Sims is going to lose by TKO
Hieron Decision

as much as I hate him, Diaz by the judges
Cyborg by sub I hope
Manhoef…hatred for all things matt hughes, except matt himself KTFO
Walker…long time hero…even if he loses, he still wins in my eyes KO
Sims…down with Lashley for smashing Jason Guida KO
dont really care about riggs or hieron but hope it’ll be a good fight

Diaz will take it. I would love to see Lashley win this, definitely not a fan of Sims.

Diaz via cage advantage (i don’t like him, but I don’t know how marius will adapt to a cage)
Santos (everyone talks about bullying her, but I’ve yet to see it happen. she’s just too big, fast, and aggressive)
Manhoef if it stays on the feet, lawler if he uses his brains and takes it to the mat. Lawler is my final choice.
I’m going to say walker because I don’t think SF would put him against someone who has a very good chance of beating him.
Lashley because sims said he hasn’t trained but a week for this fight. Plus I didn’t see a very good sims on TUF.
Jay, but really I’m unfamiliar with either of these guys as of late.

I think the Diaz fight could look a lot like Gomi-Diaz. Which isn’t a bad thing. The only way to finish Nick is to land a nuclear death strike and then swarm him on the mat and get the stop before he gathers his senses. Just a bad match up for Zaromski’s to pull off a win. But I really like Marius and hope we see more of him.

So I looked through the weigh-in photos.
Quite a difference in body composition!

Cyborg looks like she has won the gentic lottery, in terms of female martial arts, that is

And if you compare Herschel, who’s in tremenous shape for his age, with his opponent it’s just as bizarre.
Lets just say that Nagy’s technique must compensate for a lot.
Maybe even a little more.

Much more.

and then some.

edit: taken the links down, it’s OK, though (sorry mods!)

I like Zaromskis and I really hope he wins or at least derails the Diaz hype train. I won’t be surprised if Diaz wins by sub, but there could always be an epic left high kick.

Cyborg demolished Carano. I have a hard time imagining Coenen is anywhere near that level. In Womens 145, it’s Cyborg, Carano and then everyone else way past that. Would be surprised if this one goes past the first round. Or as Coenen says: “my stand up is okay, my wrestling is okay and my ground game as well”. That probably won’t cut it against a miniature Wanderlei Silva with long hair.

Lawler is good, but Manhoef is a freak. When Manhoef fights, it’s mostly watching to see if his opponent manages to stay alive for more than a few swings. It’s kind of like a prime Tyson. It’s just scary. I don’t think Lawler has the comprehensive game of Akiyama or Mousasi, so I think it’s a winging hook away from lights out.

Have I mentioned today how desperately I want coneen to win? Call me petty, but cyborg has no boobs, and I like boobs. Plus I like coneen’s style and attitude.

Good card for Strikeforce.

I’d be really surprised if Walker didn’t win, can’t imagine them wanting him to go away. My other picks:

Cyborg ref stoppage
Diaz
Lashley
Does Riggs have enough left to beat his opponent? Eh, probably.

None of that really went the way I thought.

So is gina overrated much
called the lawler ko those utch fighters have no head movement
Diaz is the man

Arrg! Zaromsiks wouldn’t finsh that sucker*#! what a brawl, though.
I consider Diaz very beatable because his attacking patterns and rythm is always the same, but it’s probably hard to emulate that in preparation. And his chin is simply granite.

Herschel’s opponent was leagues behind in terms of technicality, mental focus, physicality etc.
Why not outfit the dude with an Al-Quaida costume and let him play proper heel, so we can at least feel morally right when watching such a one-sided fight?
Another matchmaking-shame here for Strikeforce.

no head movement? crap. If you move fast enough and are on the offense with such bombs, you’re defense is more a strategic then tactical.
Lawler’s “strategy”, however, was more born out of pure deperation. He was being torn apart.

Sims was an idiot.

Santos should bulk up to clean out the UFC lightweight division.

Yeah…Melvin getting KO’d was obviously because he’s dutch…lol. IF Dutch fighters can be generalized so simply…then American fighters have no footwork OR use proper angles…as shown by Lawler getting handled before the KO.

I should have said kickboxers, which gasp pretty much all Dutch fighters in mma are. Hardonk, Manhoef, Coenen that night, Overeems old fights I don’t see a lot pf head movement.

well, most MT guys don’t do as much head movement, unless you wanna eat a knee or elbow.

there’s a reason why they fight with their hands higher than boxers…
