Stretch Marks?

Prof X. I was referring specifically to the opening statement, “you are limited by what you observe around you” sorry forgot to highlight it. I agree that maybe some people don’t achieve what they could due to ignorance, but not everyone.
I didn’t write EVERYONE and unless you really believe that seeing others achieve something has no bearing whatsoever in what can be achieved in mass numbers, then there wasn’t much reason to comment.

You can look at almost any facet of life and see that to be the case. Olympic track records for example are often seen as insurmountable…until someone does it and sets a new record.

Yes, there may be some people who can be successful from poor backgrounds, but unless you really think that seeing others succeed from similar backgrounds will NOT help other poor kids reach the same level, then both you and Iron Dwarf are just “arguing just to be arguing”.

Dwarf, you are limited by what you observe around you. If you didn’t know that then your own progress has likely been limited by your own observations. No one even thought you could build arms over 19 inches before Leroy Colbert. Do you think that is because no one before that could?
Seeing or not seeing stretch marks on others has NOTHING to do with what I think my potential for muscle growth is. Would I be so foolish to think that just because every huge dude in the gym was bald, that I’d need to shave my head to be as huge?
What? Who is arguing just to argue now? If you haven’t seen anyone with stretch marks at all, it is highly likely you have not seen many or any big weight lifters. How much progress you even believe you can make is based on what you perceive as possible. How is this new info for you?
It’s not.
As a teen, the last thing I remember seeing (and I can’t recall seeing them on anyone besides Mike Mentzer) on a dozen pros from the 70’s was stretch marks. Boyer Coe, Ed Corney, Greg DeFerro, Robby Robinson, Frank Zane… none of them had stretch marks (at least that I made note of).
Question, are you now the size of any of those guys?

If not, then what does you not seeing stretch marks have to do with what was written?

Magazine photos can be airbrushed, digitally enhanced or manually blurred to hide imperfections.

So, once again, if you NEVER see people like this UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL, I would definitely say that your chances of reaching the same level will be greatly decreased.

I can assure you ALL of those guys had stretch marks whether you could see them in a mag photo or not.

That’s so cute.

How about you raise your hand after we see what you look like?
How about you lick my sweaty, stretch-mark-free nutsack?

Yeah bro, I love the attention, that’s why I have 90-odd posts on here in the past five years. How’s your post count coming along by the way?

So this was yet another post for your own post count?

This isn’t relevant to the OP

This backs up my point, as it shows that one does not need to follow someone elses lead in order to achieve

I never said I disagreed with this, I stated that I think a relatable persons achievements can inspire others to emulate their actions.

“arguing just to be arguing” ?

You were the one put down the OP, why shouldn’t we be free to say we disagree with you.

So today on T-Nation, a large black man kept hassling me for pics of myself.

No, I’m not even close to their size. But it’s got nothing to do with seeing them or not. It was the road I traveled, not that I was hindered by lack of perception of possibility.

I was also talking about meeting these guys up close and in person ('78 and '79) at the Mr World.

So I’ve been gaining some nice weight this semester in college, and have added 2inches to my skinny legs (22in to 24 in). They do get up to literally 25 inches when I carb up though, as I’m on a lower carb diet. I say literally because it seems that adding an inch to my legs in a day seems like a lot, but let me know if it isn’t.

I’m not too worried about it, that’s why its being posted here, but is there anything I should do to help with the stretch marks? I’m mostly concerned if there is something lacking in my diet that may be showing from the stretch marks like a vitamin deficiency or something.

Let me know if there’s anything significant I should worry about. It just seems odd that I would get stretch marks from only having 24 inch legs (kinda pathetic the size of them, now that I think about it…)
Thanks
It’s not something you need to worry about at all. I first got them on my arms and forearms. Looked like my skin was bleeding for months. Got em on my legs, chest and shoulders after and I get them every time I do arms. Only thing you can do is grab some Cocoa Butter and hit up some multi-vitamins for your skin. I think the ones that help your skin are A and E. There may be another one. The Cocoa Butter won’t prevent them or truly make them go away but they will blend them in after some use. If it’s something that is really going to bother you then expect to spend some serious dough because Cocoa Butter isn’t cheap and the bigger you get the more stretch marks you’ll need to cover.

Wait…how the hell is this possible? Have you seen anyone who lifts weights and got big? Didn’t they have stretch marks?

If you didn’t know this at all then I seriously doubt you will make much progress. People limit themselves by what they see around them. If you didn’t even know big guys had stretch marks, then you must not have seen any big guys.

I doubt anyone exists over 200lbs who lifted weights to get there that is lacking stretch marks. You can also see them on most pros in the mags unless they are wearing a shit ton of tanner and oil and you aren’t paying attention.
Over 200 lbs???
at a half pound per month…Thats like 20 years of something

Well, it’s probably because I don’t take off my shirt and I got a good 40-50 pounds more than I should have. But the belly is going away. And, fuck stairs. I can do hills, I just absolutely hate stairs.

I’m going to assume you’re being serious?

An arm hole is where one puts one’s arms. Generally called a hole instead of a sleeve because the shirt has no sleeves, being either a cutoff or a tanktop.
