Strength Crusade

I’m curious about the 3 bar foot balance drills. I asked my friend google, but he didn’t know what they were either.

Nadia- funny you should ask. I just learned the real name of them tonight (still not sure your buddy google would know). Their called fix its. The 3 was a typing error. What you do is from a hang clean or snatch, you come up slowly to the power position. All the while making sure your weight is balanced correctly in your feet. You lower back down, and if your feet feel balanced, you do the jump portion of the lift. If not, you slowly go back down and fix it! I hope that makes some sense.

Tonight’s workout was bitter sweet. I got a 40 lg snatch above my head, but couldn’t lock it out. I just need to drop an inch or so lower and it’s there. It was definitely closer than I’d ever gotten it.

Also, I got my first training clients tomorrow (no I don’t have a license, but they approached me!) This guy who does bodybuilding splits minus legs, and his wife are looking to learn the big lifts and get strong. They saw me warming up a few weeks ago, and asked if I could work with them. Luckily, they were looking to start Eric Cressey’s max strength, which I have already done. So, they are going to have me take them through the first part so they can learn the big 3 lifts. So I figure, I must at least look like I’m doing something right, because I had never met them before that day. Needless to say, I’m so stinking excited.

I’ll write out the rest of my training tomorrow. My IPhone batteries are running out and my bath is getting cold.

how excting! Good luck with your clients !

clients how exciting

yeah, that is awesome!

congrats with the 40kg. you will get it next time!

Congrat! On both the clients and PR. shit, didn’t even see your post about the 40kg

Thanks ladies! The session with the clients went really well! Both husband and wife were pretty strong and athletic to begin with, so that was helpful. I was able to help them with foam rolling and mobility drills. Their form just needed the usual tweeks that you only learn from other powerlifters. ie) Lead with your chest and knees out for squats, back tight and drive with your legs on bench, and chest up bar close hump the bar for deads. Hopefully they will get another session down in a month or so. We’ll see.

Here is the rest of last thursday’s workout (the one where I ALMOST got a 40kg snatch)
-Snatch presses up to 40kg to work on dropping under the bar
-Snatches
-Band resisted first pull with jump: 8x2x40kg(with band) 45sec rests
-Bulgarian split squats: 3x8 w/10lb dbs
-Rope Face pulls: 32.5lbs
-45 degree back extensions

Went out of town for the weekend, so no lifting. My training partner is finally back from vacation, so Monday training sessions will be fun again.

I got to workout in my new lifting shirt today! It was designed by my buddy Lance. If you get a second, check them out at cafepress.com/liftees

Funny enough I did presses today!

Rolled
Warm-ups
Floor press: 3x5@115lbs Went really light to get back in the benching groove!
Chest supported row: 3x5x35lb plate
Snatch press: 7x2x75lbs
Stretched

I got out of there as fast as possible. I couldn’t handle the Monday freaks any longer!

I LOVE the shirt. Its totally getting added to my list of lifting themed tees that I want but am generally too cheap to buy. lol. Damn grad school…

Chasing the 40kg!

Cute t-shirt.

Yeah I don’t do Monday workouts, too many people trying to make up for their weekend sins.

Yeah, I hate Monday evenings in the gym but mornings are OK. I work part time so Monday is a day off for me.
Loving the tee and may I say you fill it out very nicely!

40k is there there, mama! get it!

Love the shirt! And you’re such a cutie! Great smile

Good job on the clients, that’s awesome! And so jealous of your river swimming.

Keep up the great work, sarah!

Buckeye-I wouldn’t have been able to get it when I was in grad school either! The price we pay for education!
Techno-I’d skip Mondays if it weren’t for my dang workout partner! With her work schedule she has to do Mondays. She could go earlier and miss the rush, but she waits for my 9-5 ass to get off work. So we must both suffer.
Cal-Ooh thanks! I judge how much I like a shirt by how well I fill it out, so this one is definitely a WIN!
Masch-I WILL get it! Hopefully soon because I feel like it’s taunting me. Hopefully all the behind the neck snatches to practice the drop will pay off!

Oh I forgot to mention, I ordered my olympic shoes yesterday! I got the Risto Sport Linea Blancas. They were only $10 more than the pendlay Do-wins and got great reviews. Plus they are fair trade using materials local to the area. These things are near and dear to my heart, so I believe it was an extra $10 well spent. I will admit that they were originally $20 more. However, I found a coupon code online that was supposed to be exclusively for crossfitters. I used it HeeHee!

Love the shirt and I had no idea you were that cute! I’ll go check out that website.

Good summary of the powerlifting advice.

Exactly! Drop like its hot and then push against the bar! Be the Buddha. lol! You’ll totally get it.

YAY for the Oly shoes! Dude, they will totally up your game. Now you can stomp with wild abandon! And yay for Fair Trade! Eco-friendly Oly-lifters are where its at

Arachne- Well shucks…I’m blushing. I’m glad to dispel any notions that I look like a troll or any other repugnant mythical creature!

Masche- I will drop like it’s hot just like the Buddha!

Workout tonight:

Lots of rolling and mobility work

Hang cleans:
Stick warmup
Bar: 3x3
30kg: 3x2
40kg: 3x1
50kg: 4x1

Clean grip bar step-ups: 3x8

Bent over row: 3x8x45lbs

The last couple of workouts I’ve forgotten to do an ab exercise! I need to get back on that pronto!

I sometimes wonder about my reading comprehension skills, I thought you said you forgot HOW to do ab exercises, haha.

Hmmm, eco-frienly olympic shoes…interesting. I’m trying to decide when I should put out the expense of buying some shoes.

yes, really cute shirt!

you’ll get that snatch!

Aw hey, I didn’t know that about the Risto’s. Very good to know, thanks for passing that info on.

Great training, as usual, in here.

Happy to hear that things went well with the clients. You should feel very flattered indeed that such people consulted you!! Not the average ‘I just wanna tone a little please motivate me’ deal at all

The tee is very cute and you do indeed look adorable in it.

Good luck with international bench day lolz.

love the shirt, great smile. I’d totally want you as my PT
