anyone listening to Vai? new cd out soon
waiting for a long time for this one… this song sounds wierd as fuck with the constant note drop. just hope rest of the cd have some good melodies.

I love Via and he’s really inspired me as a player, but most of the time his stuff is just too silly and over the top. I blame Zappa. For me Passion & Warfare are the best. I think if he and Devon had stuck together it would have been cool.

I like a lot of Vai’s stuff until a certain point in the song where it just starts to get weird. Actually, Vai did write it. The “Sakush KC” thing is vandalism by some stupid kid, as far as I can tell. Sadly, no one has fixed it (until me 5 minutes ago) and it has now spread throughout the internet…
I’ve checked the actual physical copy of the album and did some googling - no “Sakush KC” listed anywhere and he appears to be some idiot fan who decided to edit the page.

It was that randomness that was suspicious. Vai has had some stuff written / co-written by other people, but I think those were usually more traditional songs, plus I’ve heard most of the names before. Fortunately I keep Sex&Religion in the office so I could check that straight away

it’s been years since real illusions, i was wondering about him. surprised to find this out in T-Nation
i used to be huge into him years ago. i kinda grew out of the whole instrumental wanky rock thing, but steve still holds a place in my heart, and i’m looking foward to this.
this song is pretty cool. not much of a ‘song’ actually, more of a jam… sounds like a mix between his fire garden technique and the jam style on his vault cds

I’ve been told by friends that know guitar that I’m a bit of an oddity.
I adore Steve Vai’s Passion & Warfare and Joe Satriani’s Surfing with the Alien while knowing absolutely nothing about the intricacies of the guitar.
Those two albums are basically the theme song to my life when I was in high school. The memories when I listen to them are akin to those strong memories you get from fragrances that take you back.
I think the lack of lyrics helps in some strange way.
Love me some Vai, anyone remember this 80’s gem?
