I expected people to hate on him on an internet forum, I couldn’t believe it when one of my professors started ragging on him today.

That day will come, I am not prepared for it, no one can be, but I understand that it will happen.
I am blessed with great health, so I make the most of my body now for this exact reason (and conversely it irks me when perfectly healthy individuals don’t do the same, but to each their own)…but no doubt either of those would suck, but again, I understand it happens.

There are two things I know, that hopefully you will learn before long, if not the “kick in the balls” will be coming, and it might just be an action that is repeated.
Here is what you should learn and/or accept:
You may “know a lot of stuff” But don’t make the mistake of confusing education with intelligence…and what you should really recognize is “know what you don’t know”
And the second thing I suggest you embrace is:
In reality you can’t control shit…you make think you can, you can “take care” of your body, your mind, and your money/possessions and in the time it takes you to spout off of how you improved a piece of surgical equipment, you could find out that you have a dread illness, your friends/family are sick and you, not someone else but you have to take care of them, or all of your money/possessions could be taken away via something out of your control.
Sure say “I’m a man, I can deal with that, I will just stand strong and get all my shit back, and I will whip cancer’s ass” and so on…talk is cheap.
I actually feel sorry for you…, because sometime, somewhere, that kick in the balls ID was talking about will show up, and you are going to be one surprised mother fucker at how you feel when it does.
Not one bit of this BS is new. I can see a whole bunch of old Wise long tooth guys sitting around when Henry Ford Died.
Good, Rot in Hell. Fuck Ford and his model T. He acts like he invented cars. I can’t even teach anymore. Damn kids coming into class with the damn hand cranks clanking. Didn’t have this issue with horses. Yeah everyone smell like Horse shit. Well I hope Ford rots in hell.
Gotta go I need to get back to my house 150 miles east and its a long drive.

The fact that I am an engineering student may explain a lot, but it doesn’t explain everything.
Thats wonderful that you actually DO SOMETHING for this world, unlike some people here who think that what they do is hard. My respect for you has jumped considerably…Doesn’t sound like you have a degree in engineering, whats type of degree do you have?
I know the stereotype of engineers, I go to school with them and I know how much I differ from MOST of my classmates, I hang out with none of them, I form no special bonds with them, a lot of them piss me off. My schooling has been a struggle the whole way through, it’s possible that I operate differently than most engineers.
I remain humble in real life and I don’t let it get the best of me.

I have realized under my own volition (not through my education) the topic of control. I realize that it is 95% of life and how we as humans operate.
I have this vision, a test if you will, where someone is placed somewhere with ABSOLUTELY nothing and no one, how will they fare?

He’s certainly brash. But beneath the youthful bravado, I think he actually has a good point. I think it’s arrogant and absurd to claim that Joe Average Hero is that much better than Steve Jobs because Joe Average Hero does the kind of things he’s able to. How many people are able to do what DBCooper does? Quite a few, no? Not that it’s common to see people doing that, unfortunately, but the fact remains that it’s something a lot of people COULD do. And those who do it should absolutely be praised for it. That said, how many people can do what Steve Jobs did? Statistically, no one that you will ever meet. The Steve Jobs’s of the world are just as important to its function, and they tend to serve as inspiration. So really, they’re both right and they’re both acting like children.

Dude, you sound beyond ignorant right now. I hate America? Is that why I spend so much time working to help my fellow Americans? I’ve never missed a vote and I work as a polling station worker every election here in my town. I’m not even going to dignify the comment about Chavez and if you think I’m a liberal hater of corporations, maybe you should reread some of my comments in various threads around here calling for a massive slash in corporate taxes. I’m a card-carrying member of the Libertarian Party and I might even re-register as a Republican so that I can vote for Ron Paul. As far as Pepperdine goes, I love it. You’ve never even been to Malibu, let alone the actual campus, and yet you’re going to tell me it’s conservative by California’s standards? You aren’t qualified to judge whether ANYTHING is conservative, let alone an institute of higher learning that you probably could never get accepted to.
Look, I’m not going to start arguing with someone who can’t even figure out how to use Google to find a decent price on a fucking necklace about how hard or easy it is to care for a 90 year-old woman or to teach high school-aged kids. It’s great that you’re allegedly working on some surgical equipment. Come back to me when you’re taking steps to bring it to third-world countries. Go ahead, disparage the contributions I make to my community on a daily basis. The fact that you disparage my efforts as easy only reveals the fact that you have no clue as to what my work entails.
You’re working on surgical equipment this YEAR? I’ve touched more lives today than you have all year. Go ahead, call me a baby-sitter and a granny-ass wiper. If you think there’s anything easy about watching a ten year old and his twin sister get separated and put in different foster homes, if you think it’s easy to work with kids who have been taken out of their homes, if you think it’s easy to work with people struggling to conquer lifelong addictions, if you think it’s easy to attend their funerals when they die from their addictions, if you think it’s easy paying your way through school and a teaching credential program so that you can teach in a low-income area, if you think it’s easy balancing all of this with your own personal life…well, you’re a better man than I am. But you don’t do any of this, so you have no place to call what I do “easy”.
