Steroids Use In MMA

I am really confused by the way fighters use steroids . They apparently aren’t using them to get bigger but to gain muscle, but to gain explosive strength and speed + endurance . Can someone explain how ? I thought steroids only lead to muscle gain and strength gains ( I don’t know jack shit about roids )

I new here as well…don’t know if I’m qualified to say this…but do your research.

It really depends on a steroid users goals, is size top on most mixed martial artists list? Probably not, but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind a couple extra pounds of muscle. You can’t look at two steroids and say AASa produces type 1 (slow-twitch) muscle fibres and AASb produces type 2 (fast-twitch) fibres, thats all genetics and training. AAS may aid you in your goals, whether that be getting stronger, more muscle or increased work capacity. But if you training powerlifting don’t expect to become faster…

Same can be said for MMA, if all your doing is rolling, light sparring and lifting weights then don’t expect any AAS is going to make you faster or more explosive.

Lots of MMA guys use deca because it speeds up healing of joints. A buddy of mine was training with some guys at a well known MMA camp. He’s a strong guy with a good amount of muscle mass but never did juice. Well at this camp he hurt his shoulder and they gave him some deca and it was healed up in no time.

Also certain roids like winstol can give people more wind.

Now certain roids can do the opposite. Test can decrease the speed at which tendons heal and tren can kill endurance.

Speaking of steroid use in mma, Northwest Gladiator magazine has an article in January’s issue concerning steroid use.
Its definitely worth checking out!

From my experience in the MMA community, I’d have to say that most fighters use AAS primarily for recovery, and then for strength.

Tren, EQ, winstrol, and test-P seem to be the favorites for most of the guys I’ve trained with. And like Hagar says, deca is taken moreso when someone is really hurting.

Also something to consider, most fighters walk around and train at 15-20 lbs (sometimes more) above their weigh-in weight. When you’re training hard 2-3x a day sometimes it’s hard to keep ON the weight, so the added weight gain from AAS is fine.

I apologize if this is OT; but does Test really slow down the healing of tendons? Would Deca counter this or would one just have to accept it?

Happy new years, btw. At least in my time zone

yes test does slow the heling of tendons, but not by much, deca however does make an impact on joint and tendon functionality.

Trouble being here; would one want to run deca without test?

I know i wouldnt, and im pretty sure the missus would be rather displeased lol

i love var for mma.

It allows me to hit the iron hard one day and still be fresh next day for sparring.

And it makes me lose fat and gain muscle simultaniously, allows me to catch my breath faster between between rounds of training, keeps my punches and kicks from slowing down and heals up all those minor irritating injuries you get from like overextending your elbow cause of a missed punch or a noob training the technique for an armbar but going to far.

I think that sums it all up: ability to train harder, injury recovery, fat loss, muscle gain, strength&power gains.

The biggest problem with steroids in mma is that you’re gonna have to come off someday, especially if you’re fighting matches.

I really need to learn how to spell…

great post … i somewhat understand now
