Steaming veggies

Nyol, that sounds like a good idea. The only problem
is that my tap water is lousy, so I use bottle water
for everything. Not sure if it is necessary for steaming,
but I use it any way…?

From what I’ve heard on various cooking shows, cold water is fresher than hot water. The water has to sit around in a tank for a while to heat up. I don’t know that it would speed up the process all that much… If you use just a little water it should heat up quickly anyway.

I got tired of steamed broccoli so I now roast it. Try taking a couple of heads of broccoli chopped into floweretts. throw them in a bowl add chopped garlic, red pepper flakes, and olive oil. Toss. spread out over cookie sheet and pop into a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes or until desired crispiness and eat. Its a great change and you can do it with most vegi’s.

Dammit!

I blew $80 on one of the infomercial steamers (Turbo Cooker) a few months ago and now I see there are some kick ass steamers out there that are stainless steel and some have glass lids so you can see what’s going on, plus only $20!!!

Now, since I have discovered steaming, it is my preferred method for cooking meat and veggies, I mean, not even a total dumbass like me can burn meat now. You can even cook it from a frozen state and not screw it up.

You don’t have to worry about burning the meat and it stays juicy!
