Your steak regimen is well known amongst the regulars here, and if anyone is permanently associated with ‘hamburger’ on T-Nation, it’s you.
Do you do any other foods (meats) regularly, like chicken, fish, pork in the vacuum sealer?
Not currently…but only because I don’t have much extra time and need the calories from the steak.

Yes, the bags are microwave safe and no I do not worry about “leeching chemicals”.
I think some of you are really fucking paranoid about things like that. I could see worrying about this if your life is simply FILLED with heated plastics, soy products and Zac Efron posters, but mine isn’t and looking at me, I don’t think I need to start worrying now.

I’m not particularly overly concerned about the state of tofu and Zach Efrons eyebrows or whatever the hell hippies are into. but if people really think about how much they microwave shit in plastic then you realized that yes some peoples lives ARE simply FILLED with heated plastic. And cancer doesn’t only effect fat and over weight people. It gets the fit and unfit alike. So go ahead buddy enjoy your chemical steak. I’ll reheat mine in a sauce pot with some onions and garlic and olive oil, thank you.
Are you serious with this? Hell, GRILLING THEM IS ALSO A RISK…so what the hell should I do, live in a bubble for fear of ever getting sick?
Look, you will die.
I will die.
Hell, every fucker on this site will be pushing up daisies in 100 years unless medical science advances FAR beyond where we are now.
I CHOOSE not to live my life worried about death. I’ve seen it too much in my life and am absolutely fine with the fact that I could die this afternoon on the way home…and even more comfortable with the fact that I have had a one hell of a ride so far so I don’t regret one bit.
As soon as someone dies directly from heating some steaks in a plastic bag, then I will give it some thought.
My guess is, you don’t know ONE patient who can make the claim that “heated plastic” is the cause of death unless someone stabbed them with it.

He eats them all.
And clones them too eat again the next day.

Do you put your sides into the plastic bags as well? I have the seal a meal and when I cook up steaks (usually only 4-5 a week) I’ll throw the rice in the bag and heat it up all at once, although I’ve never left it in the bag.

I’m still trying to come up with ways to get the full benefit of using them. They do sell those vacuum seal containers that you can put rice in. I used to do that in the military when I was dieting for PT tests (when I first started sealing things). I would cook chicken and rice, vacuum seal the whole meal together in one of those plastic boxes and then heat it. They were reusable so I just washed them when I got home. That way I had the whole week finished by Sunday night.
Come to think of it, I’ve been doing this shit for years now.

Its Lunchtime
I feel so enlightened now after seeing the vacuum sealed bags. I have never even seen those let alone a vacuum seal machine, haha. I’ll put that on my list of things to buy when I’m out of college.

I’m not even sure what made me start using it other than trying to find a way for my food to keep well all week long after cooking on weekends. It may fuck up my weekends (this one only took 1.5 hours from start to finish…but when I was cooking more and had a smaller grill, it took up to 4 hours total), but it saves time the rest of the week.
Having to only clean the kitchen one day a week helps also.
It can get expensive though so buying in bulk is the way to go with this.

All I can say is, even at my beginner level of training, the amount of food (read: steak) I am requiring to grow is expensive no matter how good of a deal I can find.
If I didn’t have a somewhat comfortable income to facilitate this lifestyle I’ve chosen (note ‘lifestyle’ not ‘hobby’), I’m not sure that I would have made the progress I have so far-- and I’m not even CLOSE to ‘advanced’ progress (IMO). Food is second only to my mortgage in terms of monthly expenses.
PX is at 3 lbs +/- of steak per day. That could be more if he decided to do so. I’m at 2 lbs per day. Just the extra pound per day per week, say at $5 lb (conservative) is an extra $35/wk ($140/mo) just in steak. That could be significant in someone’s budget if they chose the ‘steak route’, and not just first cuts, flanks, cubes, and other cheaper but tougher cuts.
I won’t even discuss the cost of protein powder!
Lesson: If you plan on doing this shit into your late 20’s, 30’s, and beyond, choose a career path to (literally) fuel your lifestyle-- it ain’t getting any cheaper.

What setup? And did you have the volume up? Lol, but I posted that because the amount of food Levrone was eating prepping for the O was ridiculous and spending 4-500 a week on food, man Imma need a much better job when I’m trying to get to a solid 300 pounds…Haha, 5 pounds of meat a day, and probably more weight from carbs.
The setup with those two old people, are they his parents or what?

Levrone lost both of his parents at a young age. These were his business partners. Both co owners of a worlds gym in Maryland.
Got it!

Agreed. That is why my advice is always “stay in school”. I knew a lot of guys who just KNEW they were the hottest next thing in bodybuilding…who are no where to be found now.
Times are tough and eating and lifting in a way to look really developed like the goal of some of us takes a shit load of time and money that most people simply will not have unless they literally planned for that aspect right out the gate.
I LOVE weight lifting. I LIKE what I do for a living.
I LOVE that what I do for a living allows me to do what I love.

X, what’s the best way for you to prep them for eating? I find that microwaving them dries them out plus they just dont seem to hold right in the fridge for many days (3-4 days)
What I posted so far isn’t all of it. I leave it in the fridge for a few hours and then vacuum seal it. That prevents all that you just mentioned. I just ran out of vacuum seal bags but will probably post pics of that when I get it done late tonight. As long as I get them sealed in less than a day most times, they still taste freshly cooked when I thaw and reheat them in the microwave in the pouch.
Interesting. May have to look into getting a vacuum sealer. Usually I cook mine 3 1/2 minutes on each side which leaves them on the “Bloody as Hell” side of being cooked. Then into the ziplock tupperware they go. For re-heating I slice up the steak to fill 1/3 of the plate. The other 2/3 is divided equally into for beans and vegetables. Then microwave it all. Microwaving the sliced steak brings it to a nice medium rare, while keeping the whole plate of food evenly hot.

This is so true. Had my steak and eggs this morning. Microwaved the steak. It was shit. Guess it’s back to eggs and oats in the mornin’.

A 1 inch thick steak cooked rare takes 5 to 6 minutes total on the stove. Get yourself a good cast iron fry pan, melt some butter on medium high flame and sizzle that meat 3 minutes each side. Put it on a plate, cover it with foil, and cook your eggs in the same pan while your steak is resting. Voila, steak and eggs in less than 10 minutes. It takes 20 minutes to cook steel cut oatmeal, why waste your time??

You are a talented and sensible woman.
You don’t need a vacuum sealer. Just a thin straw and some ziplock bags. You can usually suck out virtually all the air with just a thin straw. I bet it’s faster than one of those sealers, too.
PX I hope your getting some vegetables in with all that steak.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKIN AT???
