figured I’d pass this along:
FDA Adds Diabetes Warning to Statin Label
WASHINGTON – The FDA is changing the labeling on statins to include a warning about increased risks of hyperglycemia and transient memory problems, but the agency is no longer recommending routine liver function testing.
Sadly, three’s still no warning about CoQ10 depletion. Guess the FDA or statin makers don’t consider heart failure to be a big convern, yet Canada does.
Yay for Big Pharma, negating our health to make a buck for years!!
On my way to work I heard a on the news about how a new study came out showing that statin users have a decreased risk (17% chance vs 24% chance for non statin users)of developing depression. Drug companies are really stretching to find ANY positive benefits to their drugs to negate all of the negatives effects (although in my opinion a difference of 7% is a joke)
hmmm, well then there’s the evidence that if one’s cholesterol is below 160 that mental disease like suicide and depression are increased.

I’d also love to see the sample size and methodology for selection for a study like that.

Here’s a link about the article http://www.sciencenewsline.com/medicine/2012022422400020.html
The actual study was a web published study:
Journal of Clinical Psychiatry (February 21, 2012)
I haven’t had time to actually read the study yet.
edit: my numbers from the previous post were a little off, its a 10% differnce (18.5% for statin users and 28% for non statin users)

Thanks. I’ll take a look later on when I have some time.
