Well if colleges get special treatments why shouldn’t state schools be able to pass this gift on to students? Do this and tuition at private schools will drop rapidly as their population of students will diminish as a good deal of them will by-pass the outrageous tuition for a free public education.
Subsidies by the government have actually increased the cost of college over time due to the increase in demand
So, with that being said in regards to subsidies, are you saying that if state education was paid for(free) somehow the price would raise? How could it raise if there is no cost? In regards to private education, I say let them die. They have been fucking over the population for decades, by charging them outrageous amounts of money for a degree. Which has help put them in the shackles of debt peonage preventing them from purchasing a house and/or start a family.
State colleges or universities are not free
Moot point
I’m talking about making them free, then what?
Won’t happen, no point in discussing it
If there is no cost, how is it done?
I think it’s not just an increase in demand, but the lack of price sensitivity.
You mean how is it paid for? How do other countries pay for it? What are the costs of higher learning in other countries?
Who’s going to pay everybody that works at them?
Sure. Either way you want to put it.
You tell me.
You tell me. Another question: How many are receiving it?
How do you think Louisiana paid for Hurricane Katrina damage? State taxes.
Thats not free.
Maybe they use the principles of MMT. They ought to have some money left over since they aren’t involved in every conflict around the world.
Germany offers free tuition at its public universities, even for those outside the EU/EEA countries.
Nearly 7,600 students from the United States attend university in Germany.
A study of 33 public community college promise programs, or free-college programs, across the United States found that they are associated with large enrollment increases of first-time, full-time students
Gándara and Li found that, on average, overall enrollments at the community colleges with promise programs increased 23 percent more than at the seven geographically nearest public community colleges without promise programs
No this doesn’t give an individual number of people but does say enrollment increased 23% with promise programs(free).
Both of those statements are from: Free-college programs has led to large enrollment increases
Trump and the Republicans are phonies. Trying to pretend they are for the working class. GTFOH. Because the Democrats are a fully corporate party and only care about money does not mean you should run into the arms of another corporate party, full of theatre and short on results.
Thank you for confirming my decision.
You’re an excellent anti-phronesis.
