State of The Union February 2024

Hell yeah they are. Virtually gauranteed federally backed loans available to teenagers!

Every time more money becomes available, the price goes up. Institutions love that easy money.

A carpenter is no different than anyone else. He can be fired w/o a good reason.

Like what? Get a judgement.

Would this be a viable option, if we were hit by a meteor?

But what I do to survive is preferential than what most people do.

No I don’t but here are some averages.

In some areas or every fast food chain would have robots do the job.

So the workers shouldn’t be allowed to join together and balance out the power with management?

But the government can’t do anything right. They fuck up everything. They are the problem not the solution. Funny when things collapse, who is the first to go hat-in-hand begging for a bailout? After they’ve talked shit about them for years.

There is a percentage example of a particular area of free public college classes vs. paid-fors.

Really? Apart from the Covid catastrophe, what was the average number of inflation through the last few decades?

And other people around the world do not.

And congrats on washing your brain smooth on capitalistic propaganda.

He can be his own boss, like you. Unlike you, he can start his own business.

The carpenter might enjoy what he does as well.

They also don’t promote college for all or DEI departments. The very things liberals push, DEI and other admin bloat, college for all, and school loans drive up the costs. College for all is especially nefarious as it gives higher education a special, magical value which increases demand and thus costs.

Do you think this is what accounts for the cost of higher education in America?

He may enjoy it, but I’d bet he would like making more money working less hours w/o anyone telling him what to do or where to be for a specified time.

My business is self-actualization. He must deal with employees and customers. I do not.

Business implies you have some sort of good or service to offer. You don’t. You’re a parasite, persisting off those who actually accomplish things (for without us dirty capitalists providing changes to the economy the currency exchange would be worthless).

I’d rather be a dirty capitalist than a raging hypocrite.

I provide liquidity to the market. W/o traders the liquidity would be less and the market wouldn’t function optimally.

You are.

Yes your pennies move multinational markets. GTFOH.

Still better than a big ass hypocrite.

Or he’s happy being an adult who creates things for people. He adds value.

Then you are too.

:man_shrugging:t2:. He’ll never know.

Its like, one day you’re walking down the street in Columbus or anywhere else, doing something completely different, and there it is. Then you can tell your wife & son about this, that and the other thing while you were doing that work.

They should. And owners and/or management should be allowed to fire them and replace them with other people if they’re not doing the work they’re supposed to be doing. That would be balanced.

Under certain conditions striking workers can be fired, I believe. But regardless of whether or not they can be fired is a moot point in many ways. You just can’t fire your entire workforce and expect to be back in business right away, if ever. This may not apply to all industries but I’m sure it’s the majority. Hiring and training employees is an investment. Anyway, my point is that it’s a non issue. Employers are better off if they treat their employees well, within reason, rather than believe they are easily replaced en masse. They know this. The problem is employees not putting in the effort to make themselves a valuable asset. In my experience, employers tend to take care of those who take care of them. I’ve worked with plenty of people who do just enough to not get fired.

Real self-actualization is this. Making something creates a true sense of pride and accomplishment. It doesn’t have to by physical. Can be a computer program, or a new manufacturing process, or a new mathematical theory.

My wife, who now works in the same industry as me, recently said ā€œyou engineers are like magic. Someone gives you an insane idea and you all make it reality.ā€ - It’s just math and science applied, but appears as something more to outsiders. I try to remember that now every time I struggle with my job.

ā€œBreaking free from the systemā€ is code for ā€œi’m a whiny little man who doesn’t actually want to contribute to societyā€.
